'Rumor Rundowns' are the best. When Brent or myself gets a chance to round up the latest info it is a sure fire hit. With 'Thor' actually filming now we have a chance to review what we know and some of what we don't know. Here we go:
Director Kenneth Branagh told MTV: We have many miles to go and promises to keep, but so far, so good.
"Everybody's doing very good work and just a lot of it is so promising. Fingers crossed for everybody and everything. Hemsworth is a great guy."
Martin Campbell is using a cheese fest meter for 'Green Lantern' maybe Kenneth should take a page from their note book and do the same thing with 'Thor.' In other words if the scene is to cheesy it gets redone or re imagined or the cheese is directly taking right out of it.
This picture would definitely tip the cheese fest-o-meter into "Why in hell did we come see this movie." Look at that photo cheese shop job, pppsssbbbtt.
Tom Hiddleston is playing Thor's villainous mean brother Loki.
Anthony Hopkins is the always impressive father Odin.
Renee Russo is Frigga
Ray Stevensen, Tadanobu Asano and Josh Dallas play the The Warriors Three
Jaimie Alexander plays Sif
Natalie Portman is the thunder god's earthly love interest Jane Foster.
Samuel L Jackson will appear in Thor to reprise his role as Nick Fury, the head of the defense agency SHIELD, a role he first picked up in 2008's Iron Man. I cant wait to hear the 'ever yelling always upset' Sam Jackson get mad and yell 'THOR, put that down'!!!!
Clark Gregg will reprise his role as SHIELD agent Phil Coulson. Just having Phil around makes the air smell of a team up masterpiece currently in the works.
David Mattey has recently stated that he has landed a role in 'Thor' but it has not been made public as to what role he landed.
Hmm, who could he be playing?
Ray Stevenson get's a chance to be like Eddie Murphy, and wear a 'fat suit' to play the in shape (hey, round IS a shape) Volstagg. Ray states: "It's based on the Thor comic book...and the origins of the Norse legends. What is actually behind the Norse legends is what's explored through the Marvel comic. You know, the existence of Asgard and the nine realms. And it's more sort of in the high realms of intergalactic space and planets, and then... It's very exciting."
"It's epic. There's visits to Earth as well. There's the wonderful Stellan Skarsgard, Natalie Portman, and all, but the presence of gods or the previous presence of gods, it's the sort of film you just want to see as a kid. You come out, 'Oh my god, flight of fantasy here we go!' It's that escapism again, and Marvel and Disney are putting their weight behind it, putting a lot of money behind it."
Tom Hiddleston revealed he was originally considered for the role of Thor and had bulked up with exercise and a bodybuilder's diet of chicken salad, grits and eggs. A few weeks later Producers removed there head from the sand and cast him as Loki to which Tom responded: "I guess it was a relief to go back to my natural body shape."
No word as of yet if 'Thor' will be shown in IMAX or 3D. Stay tuned for further details.
Thor is slamming theaters on May 6, 2011, in the USA and on May 20, 2011, in the UK.
