Asgard was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok, and by the time Avengers: Endgame had rolled around, the God of Thunder and his remaining Asgardians had holed up in "New Asgard."
The Norwegian fishing village had welcomed Thor and his people with open arms, and if these latest photos from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder are any indication, they've very much made themselves at home! Of course, Valkyrie is King these days, while Thor has been exploring space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, so any changes we see here are likely to have been her idea.
Most interesting is a building that's named "Asgard Tours: Aerial Sightseeing." There's a boat nearby, so it seems New Asgard has opened its gates to the public and is taking them on rides through the sky above their settlement (quite comically, the seats are similar to those you'd find on a rollercoaster).
Does anyone else think that it would be a killer "Star Tours" style ride in Disneyland's Avengers Campus?!
New Asgard looks great here and it's no wonder the town has been built from scratch given the travel restrictions that are still in place as a result of COVID-19. Shooting has taken place entirely in Australia, though there have been rumblings recently that filming is also planned in New York City.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022.
