Though it was reported weeks ago that Cate Blanchett was in final negotiations to join the cast of Thor: Ragnarok in a leading role, neither the trades nor the usual movie scoopers have managed to find out (and reveal) the “badass” female character that the two-time Academy Award-winning actress will be playing in the 2017 Marvel threequel. However, given heavy speculation has pointed to Hela,  Norse Goddess of Death,  a very talented fan artist by the name of Xteve Abanto has provided very stunning visualizations of how fitting Blanchett would look in the villainess role. Check out the two illustrations below, and head over here for more of Abanto’s impressive work!

This is who I'm guessing she is going to play. More natural for her look then Amora (the Enchantress)

SPOILER: Thor will die at the end of this movie, or die at least how an as guardian can die. A.k.a. he might be stuck in Hel

@Amazing512 Luke Cage has a pretty robust rogues gallery (no matter how outdated they are - they can still be modernized, after all Marvel is using Cornell Cottonmouth and Black Mariah as the main villains for Season 1, and they're probably the most racially offensive characters of Cage's rogues) so I think he can def hold more seasons. It's just about how they go about doing so. And the urban area of street level will open more doors to explore because nobody else deals with that, except for Luke Cage. Even Jessica Jones can hold another season if they explore the Nuke subplot and bring in some lesser known villains as well (Power Broker would really fit in with the IGH and strength enhancement stuff).

And it makes no sense that Marvel would build up the IPs of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones (who are both minority leads as well) only to takeaway their shows. I can see Punisher get a show in addition to them, but in place of them.

And Heroes for Hire doesn't make sense when a)Defenders will already be the superteam and b)we don't know if Luke is a for-profit character. It only really fits JJ atm.

kool

but Cate's probably Brunnhilde - though I'd go on a limb and speculate they'll have Sif become the Valkyrie.

Still, so much potential for Hela. You want Infinity War connectivity and something interesting - have her play the role of Thanos' mistress of death

@SnapperCarr. I hated Nuke/Simpson, biggest weak link of the show. Future Jessica Jones seasons should ignore him. Probably my least favorite MCU character actually...
SnapperCarr
SnapperCarr - 12/29/2015, 8:34 PM
@FishyZombie Yeah, his character was kinda poorly written. But I think he is still salvageable.

And worst character of the MCU has to go to Robyn, that twin sister character who was a neighbor of Jessica's. Probably the most annoying character ever. I wanted to rip my ears out every time she came on screen.

I still don't believe this rumor. No way an Oscar award winning actress would join on to be a villain in a Thor movie especially after Malakifkia(?) elf man guy?

It's like if WB cast Leo as Mongul for a greenlit Green Lantern 2.

@LEVITIKUZ Wasn't it confirmed by legitimate sources like Variety, Hollywood Reporter and EW? Maybe I'm mostaken, but I think it's more than a rumor.

I see where you're coming from, but maybe the script and the new director inspires confidence. Blanchett has dabbled in blockbuster fare before; namely fantasy. Maybe Feige is right when he says Thor 3 is going to be very substantial for Inifinty War. If so, it has to be great. I thibk an actress of her caliber really considers the roles she takes seriously, so maybe she sees something interesting and special about Thor 3. And she gets to work in her homeland of Australia since they're shooting there lol.

You know, I wonder if they're merging Hela with Mistress Death in the MCU. It makes sense in a way to put the two together to at least consolidate the universe.

If Blanchett is indeed playing Hela thats is some awesome casting, We've already seen how she can go evil a bit as Lady Galadriel, imagine her full on bad as Hela :]

You guys seriously need to see 'What We Do In The Shadows'. Taika knows how to direct, there's a tracking shot chase sequence that is just so clever and hilarious in the film. And the movie certainly doesn't shy away from practical effects and violence. If they do intend Ragnarok to be a buddy film between Thor and Hulk while also being a grounded, high stakes, hyper violent depressing film, this is the guy to do it. Mix that with the plethora of new female characters and brilliant actresses performing, I'm really hoping it will become one of the MCU's best.
