RUMOR: "Major" Marvel Villainess To Appear In THOR: RAGNAROK

If the Incredible Hulk's inclusion wasn't an indication, this new info certainly proves that Marvel Studios has some big plans for Chris Hemsworth's fifth time wielding mjolnir in Thor: Ragnarok. Hit the jump to find out which new character might appear in the movie!

Apart from giving focus to Chris Hesmworth’s Thunder God in his third solo outing, Thor: Ragnarok is expected to flesh out Mark Ruffalo’s Incredible Hulk, Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief Loki, as well as Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif, among other Asgardians. And while it’s been said that the superheroine known as Valkyrie (and/or her Valkyrior team) will be introduced, now comes word that the 2017 threequel will also establish a "major" female supervillain from the Marvel Comics.

If Valkyrie is really coming to the big screen, that will make two high-profile female roles being cast in Ragnarok, because I have heard that Marvel is also planning on bringing their first major female villain into their cinematic universe,” reports Lainey Gossip, whose scoops have been low-key in sync with Birth.Movies.Death’s. Unfortunately, the source is not sure which Marvel Comics villainess is being cast, but it's likely either Hela, Queen of the Dead, or Amora the Enchantress.

As Birth.Movies.Death recently reported that Marvel Studios “thinks they’re going to cast some great women” in Thor: Ragnarok, Lainey Gossip adds that a big-name actress is certainly being considered for this mystery Marvel villain, and even name-drops Cate Blanchett. However, it’s unclear in the article if the source was either suggesting that the two-time Academy Award-winning actress is on the studio’s radar, or if just someone of her caliber is being pursued. Nonetheless, which villain do you think will appear (if not both) and which actress would you like to fill the role?

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Anthony Hopkins, and Mark Ruffalo, Thor: Ragnarok is currently being scripted by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle with Taika Waititi set to direct, and the movie scheduled to release in theaters on November 3, 2017.

Yes to girl power!

I will most definitely be in this movie. I am burdened with glorious purpose.

Marvel haven't yet cracked the Thor code. I think it works as a fish out of water Shakespearean comedy, and it certainly could work as an extraterrestrial Lord of the Rings, but they still haven't quite figured out how to marry the two.

Also, Thor is probably the Marvel Phase 1 franchise I want to see continue past 3 movies. Captain America should be all over the Avengers franchise for the next 20 years, but Thor's world can only really be explored in Thor movies, and there's a hell of a lot of exploring they could do.

Oh look, Marvel will do their take on a character named Enchantress a year after DC does the same. What a 'coincedence'...

I'm thinking Blanchett would be a better Hela than Enchantress.

It would be good if Marvel studios could make a good movie which wasn't made purely to;

1.) Set up a later movie.

And

2.) Get one up over DC.

I mean it would just be nice to watch a decent Marvel movie that wasn't trying to do either of those things.

About damn time. The biggest [frick] up in the Thor movies was not introducing the Enchantress and Executioner in Thor 2 to set up Executioner's death at Gjallebru in Thor 3.

So Enchantress and Valkirie are two different characters right?

@TheGoddamnPeel

1, We don't know they're doing Enchantress.

2, Even if they do, there's a good chance she'll primarily be referred to as Amora.

3, I believe Marvel's Enchantress was created before DC's and is definitely significantly better known.

4, Suicide Squad's version is so drastically different than Marvel's that the only thing they seem to be likely to share is their name.

5, Do we have to do this kind of petty bullshit about every little goddamn thing?

Oh, and:

6, Marvel's Enchantress is essentially just another version of the bewitching seductress archetype of which DC probably had several before she was created and goes back at least as far as Circe. (The Homeric one, not the Wonder Woman one.)

Owlman88 - 11/12/2015, 8:33 AM
it's gonna be Amora (hopefully), else Marvel is going to be forced to mention Hela's relationship with Loki (and we know Marvel is a little lazy in those subjects).
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 11/12/2015, 8:33 AM
Hopefully is both The Encantress and Hela. Thor-Ragnarok is the finale. This is our last chance to see the full scope of the 9 Realms. I'm hoping every character that has been absent so far (cough- Baldur -cough) gets at least a brief second od screen time, in this movie.

Also, wasn't Nebula a major female villain?
ScarletWarlock
ScarletWarlock - 11/12/2015, 8:34 AM
YAAAAY! I love it when more female characters are introduced, can't wait for the casting news in this film, I have a good feeling about Ragnarok, could possibly be in my top 3 MCU films when it hits.

I like it. Hela or Amora, I'm fine with both.

@DukeAcureds

She was unfortunately more of a henchwoman type villain. Hopefully she gets a meatier role in Vol. 2.

Charlize Theron would be perfect for either of those roles.
