You wait for ages for a bit of Thunder God news, and then you get the cast picks for both Thor and his villainous brother in a matter of days.

According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, the part of Loki has gone to Tom Hiddleston, an award-winning British actor and Royal Academy Of Dramatic Arts (RADA) graduate. He played Winston Churchill's son in HBO's "The Gathering Storm" and has starred in "Ivanov" opposite Branagh on the London stage and also starred with him in the BBC miniseries "Wallander."

Hiddleston was rumored for the role after Branagh was heard praising the actor recently..guess some rumors come through after all!

All gods are mythical, however I am liking the choices for the film so far.

lol, yeah I saw Aiiwolf's post fist, but thanks for throwing in a picture so I didn't have to google it... something Aiiwolf didn't do, lazy turd ;P

I don't think this guy has the look at all. I will have to see him in costume before I can get excited about him in the role... but hey, I said the same thing about Heath Ledger as Joker, so I may be sweating for nothing. I'm just stoked they finally gave us some casting news and while Thor has never been one of my favored characters, I really can't wait to see how they do this movie.

Now tell us who will be Cap and let us in on who the Spidey 4 villains really are.

This is exactly how I pictured Loki. An annoying, fairy looking, gay guy. Someone who cannot fight his own battles. Sounds like Loki.

maybe if the rumours that he's in the film are true, hartnett will play Donlad Blake..? i rewatched 30 days of night a few weeks ago and hartnetts a pretty good actor in my opinion so i would be happy to see him as Blake.

So I guess it's Branagh is the one bringin the star power to this pic. Might be the best way to go. This guy looks like he could actually do some damage as Loki. We will see.

Whats with all the Unknowns i haven't seen this huddlestone in a movie yet but i'll take y'alls word that he is a good actor but dont we atleast need some known actor....Im just saying...

I hope this movie kicks ass they just have to make sure Nolan's not releasing anything bat related at the same time 'coz Hellboy always gets screwed by bats and to some extent so did the hulk.

Yeah i would have prefered a name, but at least i saw the Thor dude in something, he was good in his small part in Trek. And he comes from an Aussie soap, so did Russel Crowe and Guy Pierce!

Aiiwolf: no worries, im not going to lose any sleep over it...ill just silently plot my revenge, lol! ;-)

Neo24real: as long as they're good actors i dont think it matters how well known they are!

After the casting of Thor I really don't care about the rest of the crew much considering how horribly disappointing the casting was for the God of thunder. Either way I know very little about this guy. Not looking like the best choice they had, but still no where near as bad as Thor.

Guess Thor is going the all unknown cast way. Risky but rewarding if it works/

stupify_me - 5/18/2009, 3:58 PM
Nothing more rewarding about it than going well known. If it works it works either way there is nothing special about going all unknown other than being able to say your a risk taker.

THEHAWK

stupify, Movies with "Known Actors" are sometimes overwhellemed by the star power, and the character just becomes "that guy Brad Pitt played." And a lot of "Known actors" are diva's and try to focus the film on them, try to make it to where they are the sole focus, like Halle Berrey in X3.
Betty
Betty - 5/18/2009, 7:46 PM
THEHAWK--too right! Allstar cast usually means crapfest. The vulnerable genres are either comedies or our beloved comic book movies.
stupify_me
stupify_me - 5/18/2009, 9:23 PM
I'd rather watch a film with a known actor that I actually know is good than some risky choice that has maybe one movie with 10 mins of screen time. The so called diva known actors with talent still have talent.

@stupify, Just think if they had brad pitt or some big time actor as Thor, that would be 2 million "LESS" that would go into making the movie looks good with better effects. Then say Thor does well and they want to make another, and of course the high end actor is going to say I want even more money because I am so great I make this film, then it doesn't get made or has to change a character.... wait that happened with iron man twice, and on hulk, maybe we wont have to much trouble with Thor since this guy doesn't have a big head.

@yohon only 2 mill for a big time actor get me some of that shite you be smoking. if brad pitt was in this movie he would be gnd the getting a 15-20 mill payday and points on the backend.
if you think about it, almost all the new cbm have been no names. who the hell was christian bale before batman, or hugh jackman before x men. even robert downey jr was washed up before ironman. I say keep it unknown cause then the bulk of the cash goes into the effects and the sets and gives us more bang for our 16.50 imax buck. and .....
nick cage for donald blake

*Sigh* Bridget Reagen is such a doll, though. ;)

@darthstern

Lol I dont know how much these bastards make, I was going for a high number trying to say they take from the movie and that I prefer unknowns for movies.

Also glad to know im not the only one that hates the guy that plays the same character in every movie.

I'm not familiar with this guy but I can definately see him as Loki. I, above all else, trust in Branagh.
