Deadline is reporting that Ayo Edebiri (The Bear; Dickinson) has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' upcoming Thunderbolts. Further details are unavailable, but the trade notes that her role is being kept heavily under wraps.
She joins an impressive ensemble cast that features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.
The Phase 5 film is being helmed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns; Kidding), with a screenplay from Eric Pearson (Black Widow; Thor: Ragnarok) and Kevin Feige producing.
Not much is known about the film's plot, but the rumor mill has been pointing toward Sentry being the potential big bad, although there may be more to his inclusion than meets the eye.
Filming is slated to begin in June, so expect to get a lot more casting news over the coming weeks.
While Edebiri is best known for her breakout role as Sydney Adamu in FX's acclaimed comedy-drama The Bear, her TV credits also include Netflix's Big Mouth and Apple TV+'s Dickinson. She's also a staff writer on both projects, as well as on FX's What We Do In The Shadows.
Thunderbolts is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
