Michael Bay Destroys TRANSFORMERS 4 Hong Kong Set With, You Guessed It, Explosions!

We all know Michael Bay ("The Island") loves beautiful women, teal/orange lighting, enormous explosions and racist robots. So, it should come as no surprise that the director wrecked his Transformers 4 Hong Kong (Detroit) set with detonations. Check it out!

Ever wonder how many explosions are in a Michael Bay film? Well, Kyle Vanhove did just that. According to him, Transformers had 128 explosions, Revenge of the Fallen had 211 explosions, and Dark of the Moon had a grand total of 283 explosions. Do you see a theme emerging here? If Bay continues on this course Transformers 4 will be the first of his films to exceed the coveted 300 explosions mark. By the way, as far as I can tell from film historians, professional and amatuer, Dark of the Moon's 283 explosions are a record for any film ever made.

So, below you will find lots of videos with different angles of the destruction to the Hong Kong, China set. You will also see a video showing the film crew testing explosions in an empty parking lot. And finally a cool video of some of the vehicles up close, like the 2014 Camaro concept (Bumblebee), C7 Corvette Stingray, Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse, Pagani Huayra and a Medium Tactical Vehicles product from Oshkosh Defense (Hound).

They were probably filming the climax. I doubt this was one battle scene.

Hate on Michael Bay all we want. At-least he doesn't rely all on CGI for his special effects shots. He uses real set locations, live explosions, and makes his actors do as much stunts as they can. While I appreciate Bay for making Transformers into a billion dollar franchise, I can't wait to a director who will actually allow the robots to carry the story. A real depiction of Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave etc. I don't think we'll get that movie anytime soon. I just watch these flicks at this point is for Optimus Prime. The only character they even tried to get somewhat right.

@MARVELPSYCHO79 You have to be young or have terrible taste in movies if you DON'T think that Michael Bay is a greates director. He is the best!

What's your problem? Watch f*cking "Watchmen" or Nolan's realistis shit-Batmans. Stop talk people what to watch. Bay film the best ENTERTAINMENT movies ever made. He has big fan base and the 4th Transformers will have another billion $ gross. So no one cares about you stupid tastes of "smart" movies. People like explisions, robots and entertainment films. Live with it, boy.

i know prime is the leader n all but he gets too much screen time! lol he got all the action
let bumblebee have a good 5 minute fight scene instead
SoundWave
SoundWave - 8/10/2013, 6:02 PM
@Gnyah123 the second is the best! 8 transformers connect in 1 mega-awesome-big Devastator! There could be anything better in any other "Transformers" movies than constructuion many in one big! Even if I finaly see the DinoBots or Unicron as really a planet-transformer, for me the Devastator is da beeeest! And a CAT Ravage is the best too, even have a toy figure and a cup with it. Cats rulezz!

And the Matrix crush was so tear-drop moment from all trilogy! Nothing has more catharsis than scene when Matrix crushed to dust in Sam's arms!

I love Rosie much-much more than Megan (I don't like Megan Fox at all, to be honest) but second "Transformers" movie for me still the best in franchice.

I'm in no way defending Michael Bay. I just don't understand why you guys seem to think that like 25 ft tall robots having a war basically in a massive city would not cause explosions...why's everyone so surprised?

For every bad thing people have to say about this franchise, there's a movie they love that embodies the exact same elements.

Hope it breaks the bank.

You don't eat a candy bar and then expect it to be a health-conscious decision. It's a guilty pleasure. Same with Transformers. Stop looking for Hamlet where it ain't.
