A Deadline.com reporter has apparently been contacted with new info regarding the injury of an extra in "Transformers 3", by none other than Paramount themselves.
The Paramount exec says that the person injured was not actually an extra for the movie,. He an innocent bystander that was over 500 feet from where the stunt took place. They are referring to it as a "Freak accident".
It seems she was hit with a by a stray piece of metal whose weld broke and launched off the car involved in the stunt. Instead steel towing cable as was originally reported(the towing cable broke the day before an accident in which no one was injured). The stunt was rescheduled from Tuesday to Wednesday, due to what Paramount is calling "Timing Issues" as opposed to a failed stunt. The exec has this to say "nobody has done movies more safely than Michael Bay." Though Paramount could not explain the odd ordeal and could only say this: "We feel horrible that anyone was injured and will take all appropriate action."
The womean was airlifted to a hospital with a very serious head injury.
The Deadline reporter also received "from a confidential informant"
"An extra doing stunts in her own car with a tow rig? Holy shit is somebody's head gonna roll over this one. SO many things against industry standards, don't know where to start! Bay should be starting to sweat right about now. 30yrs of motion pictures and never seen stunts [frick] up this bad."
