Transformers 2 Goes Beyond The $400 Million Domestic Box Office Total

In roughly 76 days, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" reaches $400 Million at the domestic box office

With a feat the original Transformers film of 2007 could not accomplish domestically, the sequel earned in 76 days a whopping $400 million domestically.

Michael Bay believed with the lack of heavy promotion by the studio, the film would not earn nearly as much as perceived..."I have been waiting, and waiting for the anticipation of an 'event movie' to make it into the 'public zeitgeist.’ You all talk so glowingly about Transformers being the movie of the summer but unfortunately this has not gotten out to the public. I still run into so many people even this weekend with kids that ask 'is that movie coming out this year?"

Many may downplay the overall appeal, script, acting, special effects, true to source material or simply the direction Bay decided to take the film but apparently that didn't stop the masses from flocking to the theater during the film's run.

We already know a sequel is in the not too distant future and BoxOfficeMojo has a tentative date of 7/1/2011. I doubt that will be the actual date, but who knows with Hollywood today?

There are far too many variables to compare when it comes to what pushed the box office figures of TDK...far too many that won't be capitalized again by another comic book film more than likely. Heath Ledger's death, the widespread viral campaigns, marketing, fan-ism that spilled out from fanboys to "regular joes," etc. All things were a source for a huge dent at the box office. It was timing and a well deserved success at that.

Im glad this movie made so much money. It really was the most under appreciated film of the year. Honestly, if you liked the first one, you should like the second.

I quite enjoyed the movie. Thought it was great with the flaws that were in it, but great none the less.

Even though Transformers 2 had a lack of promotion, it was still a good movie in my opinion. It wasn't the greatest movie but it was decent non the less.
