Robert Kirkman - the Invincible series creator, has recently done an interview talking with Polygon (full Interview here), about what fans should expect to happen in season two.
It was during this interview where he was asked his overall goals for the series as a whole, to which he answered by disclosing the planned number of seasons he wishes to develop for the show moving forward.
Polygon: What’s your ideal big picture, ultimately, for this series? Do you have a sense at this point, based on the pacing you’re going at, how many seasons you’d need to do the whole comic, or at least tell the story you want to tell?
Robert Kirkman: I’m trying not to pin it down to a number, because it is somewhat of a moving target. I think in the seven-to-eight-season range seems like it would be enough. But there could be some things we move through a little faster, some things we expand. If we’re fortunate enough to go for a good long time, I think that would be enough to cover the entire comic. And there are some things along the way that didn’t get into the comic that I’d like to do. I think it’d be cool to have some episodes here and there that are completely original. So that’s part of the plan moving forward.
Of course there is still a lot more story about the Invincible mythos to tell, for continuing the series at an extensive rate would give the show proper time to dive into a number of those tales.
Part 1 of Invincible season 2 will debut on Prime Video on Nov. 3, with part 2 coming in early 2024.
