We haven't had anything solid on a Preacher movie since Sam Mendes ditched the project some time ago. And we still don't! But we do have the following rumor from /Film..

One of my well placed Hollywood spys informs me that Disturbia/Eagle Eye helmer DJ Caruso is in talks to direct a big screen adaptation of Preacher. This is said to be all dependent on the box office of his latest film, I Am Number Four. I have not been able to double source this rumor, but I thought I’d throw it out there to get your thoughts?

My thoughts are: Mehhhhhhhhh. I haven't seen I Am Number 4, but fairly soundly hated the shit out of both Disturbia and Eagle Eye. Then again, this guy is a big comic fan, having campaigned to get an adap of Y: The Last Man off the ground(albeit with Mr Lebouf as Yorick. Shia as Jesse Custer anyone?) for a long time. Maybe he is passionate enough to pull it off. Producer Neal Moretz recently said that a new director had signed on but did not name him. Could well be Caruso, but we shall see.

What do you think folks? Could this guy make a decent stab at getting across the incredibly controversial themes and characters in Preacher?
