The meeting between Rick and Michonne has started. The Walking Dead spin-off, starring Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln, discreetly started filming on February 13 in New Jersey. We caught a glimpse of Lincoln leaving his trailer, seen below.
According to the film and television production tracker Productionlist.com, the six-episode first season of The Walking Dead: Summit will shoot in Carlstadt, New Jersey, and Atlanta, Georgia, through March 16th.
Originally envisioned as a trilogy of feature films starring Andrew Lincoln, The Walking Dead spin-off will now make its television debut on AMC and AMC+ in 2024. In July 2022, AMC made the project's status as a new television series public for the first time.
Rick and Michonne were last seen together in the series finale of Lincoln in 2018, however, they did make a separate appearance in the coda sequence that ended The Walking Dead's November 2022 season finale.
The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne is the working title of the showrunner Scott M. Gimple's spin-off that centers on the relationship "in a romantic saga of the dangerous road to each other, and the only road they must find with each other, cornered by a new civilization and hordes of the dead."
Additionally, we have news from The Walking Dead's Paris set, including a post from Norman Reedus on social media featuring Daryl Dixon, as well as updates from five other cast members: Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Ann Charrier (The Last Deadly Mission), Romain Levi (The Tunnel), Laika Blanc Francard (My Night), Eriq Ebanouey (Fox Hunt), and Ann Charrier (The Last Deadly Mission).
"In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Daryl washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan," Reads AMC's logline.
Originally, it was intended for Melissa McBride to play Carol once more and for Reedus to play Daryl in the program. The series was changed to highlight Daryl's solo voyage after McBride resigned due to schedule issues brought on by the show's French filming.
The plot is, to put it mildly, peculiar. Emily is not the only American who feels uncomfortable in Paris. In a bizarre turn of events, Daryl Dixon, who we last saw riding off on his motorcycle to search for Rick and Michonne, now finds himself in France.
The fact that there is an ocean between where he was last seen and where he ends up makes it evident that we need to know how he gets there. It may also be amusing. An uncited Wikipedia note states that Daryl Dixon will only have six episodes. Hey, though, can you think of another first season that only contained six episodes? Indeed, The Walking Dead. While we wait for confirmation that Daryl Dixon will have six episodes, stay tuned.
On May 14, the first episode of Fear the Walking Dead: The Final Season - Part 1 will air on AMC and AMC+. Both The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere later in 2023. The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne is scheduled to premiere in 2024. Keep checking back for additional updates!
