This past weekend, it was confirmed that David Tennant and Catherine Tate are returning to Doctor Who to celebrate the show's 60th anniversary. Now, photos from the Camden, London set of the series have started doing the rounds on social media showing both actors in costume shooting their scenes.
Tennant has a different overcoat to the one he typically wore during his stint as the Doctor, suggesting this isn't just a flashback. Further leaning into that theory is the fact that both actors were spotted near a store called Modfather which wasn't established until 2012. That's four years after Donna had her memory wiped, which could be a major hint that she'll reunite with the Doctor in the present.
It's also worth noting that the Tardis appears to be the one used by Jodie Whittaker's Doctor, possibly suggesting that she might not be done quite yet...and that multiple Doctors will share the screen here.
Another big reveal, however, is the return of Bernard Cribbins as Donna's grandfather Wilfred. He can be seen in action with the Doctor below, and it's clear that this special celebration will be full of surprises. As for who will be at the helm of the special, set photos appear to confirm that veteran Doctor Who director Rachael Talalay will be taking charge of the episode for returning showrunner, Russell T. Davis.
