San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing, but fans don’t have to wait until the show’s panel this Saturday to learn more about the final season of Arrow, as it’s been confirmed that actor Ben Lewis has been upped to a series regular.

Like his co-star Katherine McNamara, who was also promoted to a series regular, Lewis joined The CW drama to portray one of Oliver Queen's children in a number of flash-forward scenes that gave viewers a look at Star City in the year 2049.

While there currently aren’t a lot of details on how Lewis’ character will factor into the upcoming season, the expanded roles of Mia Smoak and William Clayton strongly suggest the 2049 storyline will play a significant part in the show's conclusion.

The eighth season of Arrow is currently scheduled to premiere on October 15, 2019 and will see Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Juliana Harkavy, and Rick Gonzalez return to reprise their respective roles.

Guessing the bulk of the season will now focus on the future story, and the story we flash to will be Oliver's stuff with the Monitor. It's not like they would be able to show Oliver on a different earth each episode, and this way they can expand on Oliver's legacy

Wonder who will take up the mantle of Green Arrow in the future story, Conner or Mia, Conner did on Legends Of Tomorrow, but that future doesn't exist anymore, plus a few other inconsistencies like Connor being John Jr. in that episode, but now being Bronze Tiger's son

More bad news. The future stuff was dreadfully bland and boring last year. I guess I'm not going to get the last season I wanted, which was a full season of all Oliver minus the ridiculous amount of screen time for Felicity.

@LordHarryLatts - Honestly? As downhill as Arrow has gotten, the future stuff (as dumb as it was) was at least a bit more entertaining than the forced cop-drama we were getting because of the (convenient) anti-vigilante bill. At least we saw these (never met before) have siblings bond, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Last season and they're gonna give MORE screentime to these f*cking kids, smdh.

So ten episodes left, and they're wasting most of them on future stuff we don't really care for instead of setting up Arrow's part in the big crossover... Okay?

Or maybe I COULD be jumping the gun here, and maybe they'll be jumping back in time to... Eh, that's giving them too much benefit of the doubt. Now we get to enjoy MORE useless flashback and/or flashforwards >_>

Ugh...didn't like the flash forwards at all last season. I found the 'aging' makeup to be bad and distracting, and the acting for some of the newcomers, especially Ollie's daughter to be over the top. Was hoping they would go back to basics for the final half season and go out on a high note.

On a more positive note, I've been a member of Amell's wine club (Nocking Point) since the beginning. I have LOTS if anyone ever wants to stop by for a wine party! hahah!
