ARROW Producers Tease Bringing Speedy To The Show

Producers for CW's new take on DC's Emerald Archer sat down to talk a little bit about the show, where they were asked about Ollie's sidekick Speedy possibly making an appearance.

We know some major players from the Green Arrow comics are going to be featured in CW's new superhero television show Arrow, but what about Oliver's sidekick Roy "Speedy" Harper? During the pilot Oliver refers to his sister as Speedy, but what about Roy himself? Producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg spoke with the Huffinton Post about the possibility of Speedy making an appearance in the show. "I think we are fans of the comic and we are fans of the rich heritage and legacy of the comic. I think you’ll find that there’s going to be more of the Green Arrow lore from the comics in the show than even hardcore Green Arrow fans aren't going to believe. He’s choosing his nouns and his verbs very carefully. Stay tuned. There’s the reference to Speedy in the pilot," said Kreisberg. He also added that they are focused on setting up the characters they are currently working on and it's their intention to not only open the universe up to Green Arrow characters, but the DC universe as a whole too. Guggenheim chimed in by saying they he is surprised by the number of questions they get on other DC characters. He also said that they are not setting out to make a superhero show, but more of a crime drama. The two also took influence from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight for the show as well.

Superotherside @ yeah that would be cool if they did refer to him as Red Arrow, I don't have high hopes since they aren't referring to Oliver as Green Arrow :P

I'd love them to bring Mia Dearden's Speedy in the show.

But involve her HIV-positive storyline into the show. They've said they have gone darker with it's tone and I think it's an important and good storyline to include.

A side-kick in the show? So soon? As long as Speedy's done right it shouldn't bother. Should be more a tease throughout the season than an actual side-kick. Side-kick's aren't seen these days very much when I come to think of it.

There is no way the show's producers will leave Speedy out of the show. I can't wait to see this show!

With all the other characters they're throwing in the show I'm glad Speedy has been mentioned.

He's Green Arrow's sidekick. He has to be brought in.

If they don't, that's like making a live-action Batman TV show and not bringing in Robin.

Sure, a little later down the line. Maybe season four or five (assuming it goes that long).

@earzmundo-It would be awesome to have Roy come in as a drug abuser off the streets or after Roy is introduced he is involved with drugs.

Yes to Huntress. Not sure about Speedy. Save him for like season 3. If too many characters are crammed in one season it's gonna be Smallville all over again. Watching that show for 10 years, believe me no one wants that
