Despite occasionally appearing as a hallucination or an alternate-universe doppelganger, Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell) and Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) have remained well and truly dead. However, during a recent chat with
Entertainment Weekly,
Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz confirmed that the two stars will return for one last go in the upcoming final season.
Schwartz didn’t reveal any specific details on their return, but she did make it clear that Adrian Chase, a.k.a. Prometheus,
“comes back in a different way than expected.” Likewise, the showrunner said Oliver Queen’s best friend won’t be
“coming back as the Tommy we know.”
While we don’t currently know how the series will bring the two characters back, this fall will see the Arrowverse experience its own
Crisis on Infinite Earth, so it’s entirely possible that they hail from one of the many alternate Earths.
Arrow Season 8 is currently scheduled to premiere October 15, 2019.
