To many fan's Manu Bennet's Deathstorke was the definitve Arrow villians who set the bar for CBTV villians and was one of the best parts of the show. Well, these fans will be dissapointed to hear what Bennet thinks of the shows take on the character as he expresses is dissapointment in the writers and his most recent appearance in Season 3.

"I think Deathstroke had a lot of possibilities with Arrow but, I think they took it in the wrong direction" said Bennet

“I think they should have honoured the Marv Wolfman character who was literally unstoppable. I read the DC comic books and thought Deathstroke was so bad arse because they make it that nobody can stop him. He’s not even super-powered, he is just a mercenary."

Bennet then went on to share his opinion about Deathstroke's most recent appearnace in "The Return" and shares an opinion that many fans have about the episode.

“It took the Justice League to defeat him; it took an army to take him on. In Arrow, it took a while for Oliver [Queen/Arrow] to prove his point, but [season three] was just a beating of Slade, adding insult to injury.”

It is currently unclear on whether Manu Bennet's Deathstroke will return to the show again, but judging from Bennet's comments it does not sound likely.

Arrow returns on April 14th on the CW.

Aww man he was great. I hope he comes back. I agree with him though.

I think he's the only one from arrow who could have transferred successfully to the DCCU. He was [frick]ing awesome in season 2. He should have his own deathstroke show.

I liked Manu's Deathstroke but the one thing that bothered me about him was his motive. Like i still to this day cant believe all of this started over Shado...it seems like such a weak motivation for someone like Slade to me. All of season 2 i was hoping there was some kind of deeper explanation for his beef with Oliver but no. Thats really what they sold to us. Because of Shado.

Arrow writers are really good at dropping the ball tho...they could've done more with alot of characters such as Constantine Drakon. Not only is Drakon one of GA's actual villains, hes a very formidable one. Enough to have been a main or secondary antagonist for a season. But what to they do? Kill him off for no reason very early in the 1st season and use Batman's villains instead.

I really wonder whats going through these people's minds sometimes

Yeah I gotta agree, they completely wasted him this season

Shots fired. But I agree with him that he's underused now. They shouldve kept him around more and make him seem less beatable.

@yunglilmane

Same. I love Arrow's Deathstroke but Im not buying his motive at all.

It's sounds like DC pulled the plug on any further Deathstroke appearances in the show. For him to be such a major character last season and reading this interview something seems off. Looks like Deathstroke may be further utilized in Suicide Squad and the DCCU.

Deathsroke has been the best villain in this series but he has been heavily depowered. Thea was able to hold her own against Slade, like what the heck?!? Then Laurel in the last episode was competing with League of Assassins members with 2-3 weeks of training from Nyssa... And don't get me started on Oliver abandoning Roy after the fight with Atom. Like this show has some major writing issues

Then the wildcat they gave us... Hahahahaha!!!!

Btw I actually like Arrow, but it has so many issues that i point out the crap when I see it

Flash is WAY better

I agree with @TonyChu. Since Deathstroke is going to be in Suicide Squad he more than likely won't be back on Arrow and that's a shame because he was the best part of Arrow, hands down.

For awhile I liked Arrow over Flash.
That has reversed. Flash is way better now.
Arrow is pretty weak & Deathstroke shouldn't be handled poorly.

Damn, he spoke the truth about the writing of the character. IT was dumb to take the mirikuru out of him and it was totally insane to have him be defeated so easily by Ollie and his sister.

Dumbing down villains in this series have made it unwatchable for me. Especially when Laurel is on the screen. Everyone she comes across has to be dumbed down in fighting abilities. He'll she was taking out League of Assassin members last episode and was like wtf....

I was one of the bigger supporters of Arrow for the first two seasons, but this one has been a total letdown.

Manu's comments are true indeed, Arrow mishandled the character in s3. Season 3 has advanced the characters, introduced the likes of ATOM but has just lost direction completely. They need to realise big scale battles work better than emotional monologues

The weak thing about this season is lack of action and a sane villain. Ra's just talks and does nothing.

I don't know what happened to action choreographers who were great in season 2, they're like high in this season.Romance is shoved down our throats.

I completely lost it when they showed Shado's twin sister. [frick]ing stupid. I think the producers are so involved in Flash that they aren't caring about Arrow anymore. They need to step up real fast.

@dinotron i agree. season 3 has been the weakest of the show, but to be fair the wildcat thing wasn't their fault the actor got cast on another show so his appearances on arrow were reduced.

Can't disagree with him at all, sadly. Despite being left with somewhat weak motivations by the writers Slade was easily one of my favourite Arrow characters, and he is dearly missed.

Manu being on the show as Slade was actually the one thing that made me give the show another chance during S1 (I quit watching again, though), and he was one of the main reasons why I stayed during thw whole of S2 and enjoyed most of it.

Now as I said the writing for the character wasn't always the most convincing, and the way he was defeated in the end of S2 wasn't all that great. But Manu is a beast and has enough charisma to make me overlook those flaws. I was really excited about seeing Slade return in S3, and was kind of crushed after the way the dealt with him.

Hearing him talk like that doesn't give me confidence in an appropriate comeback of the character, and for the direction of the whole show. Quite a lot of questionable decisions were made in S3. I really want the show to get back on track, and I feel kind of bad for the cast (I do like pretty much all of them) - can't be easy getting a lot of criticism while so many fans seem to just love The Flash. :(

He's ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! The writers in my opinion have neglected arrow for Flash. Writing has been sub par this season. Arrow has been on a downward spiral. Hes not afraid to speak that truth...open people's eyes to the paltry season 3 writing. I love arrow but it's been bad this season.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 4/4/2015, 11:17 AM
Marv Wolfman take was amazing. Also, the writers gve deathstroke a dum motive for doing what he did. The Shado thing was weird . Sounds like he doesn't want to return to arrow. HE WOULD BE AN AMAZING TASKMASTER

GhostDog - 4/4/2015, 11:20 AM
The writing is bad sometimes. Whether it's neglecting arrow for Flash or the writers not understanding the characters of arrow and his world...I feel like flash is easier to comprehend. Barry is a likeable guy and his mythology is easy to get. It's very comic booky and full of levity. With arrow, they don't know what road they want to take...first ot was the dark and gritty grounded now they wanna aDD a level of super powers...is he the arrow, will he be the next ra's. recycled hunted hero storyline, the soap opera, the iffy dialogue....

Brief little James Wan interview: twitter.com/SuperheroFeed/status/584419775268298753

CB: I do hear whispers that you might be in talks for a DC or Warner Brothers movie. Is that true?

Wan: There's lots of talks about lots of things so who know what is true.

CB: Would you want to direct Dwayne Johnson again in Shazam?

Wan: Well, put it this way: I freakin' love Dwayne. He's an awesome guy and I would love to work with him again in a heartbeat. I know Dwayne wants to find something for me and him to do again in the future.

Sounds to me like he could be directing a film.

I agree with him completely and the character started out kind of unstoppable without the Mirakaru, he even took down Deathstroke 1.0 pretty easy. I don't really think it was that great of an idea for him to complain when he is on an MTV show right now, it kind of seems like career suicide. This article also doesn't list any source for the interview.
