Oliver Queen To Get "New Toys" In ARROW S3, Show Returning To Grounded Realism
Marc Guggenheim, executive producer on the CW's Arrow, has shared some new tidbits on the show's third season, teasing new toys for Oliver Queen's vigilante and a return to realism over superpowers.
Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim has shared some new details on the third season of the hit CW series. Speaking to KFI AM 640, he explained that while season two embraced spectacular superpowers and abilities -- with the introduction of Barry Allen, aka the Flash, and the Mirakuru plot point -- the show will take the more realistic approach of season one. "We're not really planning on revisiting superpowers or enhanced abilities during season three. We are really returning to the show's roots of a very grounded world where it's very realistic. We may take occasional artistic license with things, but for the most part, everything is pretty well and truly grounded in real-life things and real-life science." Guggenheim continued, "I think what people will find when they watch season three is that the operatic scope of season two didn't really come from the presence of enhanced abilities or superpowers, it really came from the stories and the characters, and that stuff ain't changing." Oliver Queen will also be equipped with some new gadgets, which will be explored in more depth in the Arrow: Season 2.5 comic tie-in. "He is going to get some new toys to play with," Guggenheim said. "One of them is a new bow that looks identical to the old bow, but it does something that you've never seen before." The third season of Arrow begins on October 8th.
