The CW's popular superhero show Arrow returned last night, following the big premiere of The Flash the night before. The show seemingly hasn't lost any interest over it's break - unlike another comicbook show on air at the moment - and has had a slight increase in ratings from the Season 2 premiere!

The Flash was a tough act to follow but the superhero series that helped launch the new CW breakout, Arrow, did solid business in its return last night. The third-season premiere, which featured a major death, was up +11% in 18-49 (1.0), +13 in 18-34 (0.9) and +2% in total viewers (2.8 million) vs. the Season 2 opener. After the gangbusters Tuesday debut, The Flash got more sampling last night, with an encore of the series opener drawing a solid 2.1 million viewers and a 0.6.

The Flash's pilot re-run also pulled in impressive ratings, especially considering it was first on just the night before! Only time will tell if the two DC shows will continue with these stong ratings (for the CW) so be sure to check back here for updates!

With crime in Starling City at an all-time low thanks to the Arrow (Stephen Amell) and his team, Oliver thinks he can finally balance being both the Arrow and Oliver Queen and asks Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) out on a date.  However, when a new villain (guest star Peter Stormare) emerges, who has claimed the name Vertigo from the recently deceased Count, Oliver is caught off-guard and someone close to him is hurt. Oliver and a newly suited up Roy (Colton Haynes) take on the Count.  Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) becomes a father, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) is promoted to Captain, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) joins Arrow’s inner circle and Felicity gets a part-time job at a tech store to make ends meet. Also, Oliver fights to regain his company, Queen Consolidated, but comes up against a very worthy opponent – the charming Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh). Glen Winter directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Jake Coburn.

These TV ratings articles are almost as bad as box office articles.

Come on guys. Let's have some professionalism on this site for once. It's not professional to compare these two shows to Agents of Shit. Oh whoops...

Wow. The Flash owns Arrow. Arrow is pretty much the same. Not sure if that is what CW wanted. Bring in Batman.

I love AoS to bits. But no harm in poking a little fun, right?

How does 2.8 million viewers for Arrow = great...

But 5.0 million views for SHIELD = bad?

Someone please educate me!

The CW is a lesser network than ABC. Average CW viewership is 1 mil while ABC is much higher.

I'm not a big fan of Arrow, but it has it's core fanbase and it's clear they showed up last night to watch the season 3 premiere.

There was nothing strong about Arrow's ratings. They were about exactly where I expected them to be which was slightly higher than the ratings it had the end of last year. I expect the show to restart it's sharp decline after episode 3.

This week it scored a 2.81 which was it highest rating since 2-5-14 when it had a 2.86. It's steep drop began the next week. Arrow should be consistently falling below 2.0 by the end of the season. I expect it to go as low as 1.80.

@Jordanstine Agents Of Shield ratings have been rising up to 9 million after DVR and such are added. ABC was crazy to move it to a 9pm slot and people are recording it for later.

Arrow's ratings are poor. The show would be cancelled if it was on a real network. Some think CW will pick it up for a season 4 just to help it build to 88 episodes which is helpful when selling series in syndication. That may be true but if Gotham and The Flash keep outperforming Arrow then some it will become more obvious that Arrow has really been underperforming and quite unpopular all along.

Arrow's ratings have never been good and until AOS the most recent superhero series to compare it to was Smallville. And Smallville's Season 3 premiere had a 6.07 rating. It's season 10 premiere even bested Arrow's season 2 and 3 premieres with a 2.98 VS Arrow's 2.74 and 2.81.
That puts Arrow's lack of popularity and inability to hold it's season 1 audience into perspective.

ARROW HAS FAILED THIS CITY!

ManDeth, Agents of Shield is the tenth most popular show on ABC. Arrow is the most popular show on CW. At least it was until The Flash showed up. Troll again. Troll harder.
