Batwoman has referenced the disappearance of Bruce Wayne multiple times across its shortened first season, and the billionaire finally returned to Gotham City in last night's finale. However, there was a major twist, as the devious Alice used her ability to create foolproof disguises to make Tommy "Hush" Elliot look like the missing hero.
Her plan is to send "Bruce" to Wayne Tower so he can steal Kate Kane's shard of Kryptonite, the only material capable of piercing Batwoman's Batsuit and killing the vigilante.
The season - which ended prematurely due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic - wrapped up with a twisted smile from "Bruce" as Tommy realised that he's now taken his old rival's place, something which does have a basis in the comic books.
The reason Hush was introduced in Batwoman was because Alice took Tommy's face to help him fake his death, so he had to cover himself in bandages to hide his hideous visage. The CW series has now cast a completely different actor to play the villain, Alphas alum Warren Christie.
This also means that Christie will play Batman if and when he does return to Gotham City. In the meantime, he's going to play a twisted version of the iconic hero who is, in fact, the murderous Tommy Elliot.
