DOOM PATROL Officially Renewed For Season 2; Will Now Stream On Both The DC Universe & HBO Max

Warner Bros. TV and DC Entertainment have officially announced that Doom Patrol has been renewed for a second season, set to air in 2020. There's also an interesting new wrinkle with its renewal as it will now stream simultaneously on both the DC Universe streaming service and on WarnerMedia's upcoming HBO Max streaming service.

Executive producer Jeremy Carver and star Diane Guerrero (Crazy Jane) were both present at the DC Universe panel earlier tonight to make the long-awaited announcement.

No word on an episode count just yet, but fans should expect, at least, another fifteen installments, if not more.

Ahead of the second season's debut, the first season will also debut on HBO Max when the service makes its grand debut next year. It's also likely some, if not all, of the other DC originals will also ultimately make the transition over to HBO Max once the streamer is up and running.

DOOM PATROL reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of Super Heroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (BRENDAN FRASER), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (MATT BOMER), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (APRIL BOWLBY) and Crazy Jane (DIANE GUERRERO), led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (TIMOTHY DALTON). Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found their purpose through The Chief, coming together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence. Following the mysterious disappearance of The Chief these reluctant heroes will find themselves in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg (JOIVAN WADE), who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

Doom Patrol features:
Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder/The Chief
Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele/Robotman
Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man
April Bowlby as Rita Farr/
Elasti-Woman
Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg
Diane Guerrero as Kay Challis/Crazy Jane
Phil Morris as Silas Stone
Alan Tudyk as Eric Morden/Mr. Nobody

Already canceled my DC Universe account. No point in having it if WB is going to undermine it after suddenly getting inspired by DIsney + and coming out with something that seems way better than DC Universe.

HBO Max should have been the spot all along, and Swamp Thing should have been a part of it but of course WB/DC always acting like they're making it up as they go along. Sometimes they actually do.

@Saga - It's replacing HBO Now. HBO Go is the free service you get with a cable subscription.

Am I the only one that thought DC Universe was just going to be a part of HBO Max? I cancelled my DC Universe because there was just not enough content. They should fold it and have it be a part of HBO Max going forward.

@zachman2013 - Everything on DCU is being ported over to HBO Max, but if you only want the DC stuff then you can still sub to DCU.
