GOTHAM Season 2 Will Start To Develop Bruce Wayne's Dual Personality

GOTHAM Season 2 Will Start To Develop Bruce Wayne's Dual Personality

Critics of FOX's Gotham have often complained about the show's lack of 'Batman'. Until now, Bruce Wayne has been portrayed as a young, innocent boy, while his rogues run around free. That may be about to change though, as Bruce is set to start his double life in Season 2.

Many fans' biggest complaint about FOX's Gotham TV series is the fact that the Batman-prequel is remarkably light on... well, Batman. That seems like it's about to change a little in Season 2 though. While attending Walker Stalker Con Orlando 2015, actor David Mazouz (who plays a young 'Bruce Wayne' on the show) explained to Monkeys Fighting Robots how viewers will get to see more of the investigative detective they know and love from the comics:

"He's on a mission and he really is going to start his dual personality into being Batman. When he's Batman there is his Batman side and then his public persona which is his playboy/party boy persona. In Season 2, he's really going to start developing that with Alfred."

You can check out Mazouz' full interview below. In the meantime, are you excited about the news that we may be getting a little less 'young Bruce' and a little more of 'The World's Greatest Detective'? As always, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments!

Does Batman get AIDS in FOX's version? Or maybe he's a mutant. Yeah, Bruce Wayne is a mutant.

The art design in this show is sooo good. It makes me wish it was actually watchable.

"Critics of FOX's Gotham have often complained about the show's lack of 'Batman'"

...so that's their problem with a show that has a premise of being about Gotham BEFORE batman??

Really??

@DavidGray No, their problem is that it's pointless to have a Batman show that has every character from the mythos EXCEPT BATMAN.

If the show took a different approach then maybe it'd be interesting. But instead we get *wink wink nudge nudge* "Look, it's the Riddler", *wink wink nudge nudge* "Look it's the Penguin", *wink wink nudge nudge* "Look, it's Poison Ivy who we've actually RENAMED to f*cking IVY". There's no degree of subtlety, just one big conglomerate of extensive, needless villain backstory.

@DavidGray If the show actually followed a young Bruce as the lead, it'd be a fresher perspective in my opinion. There isn't much exploring his formative years as a child before his training to become Batman. But instead we get what i mentioned above.

As a hardcore Batman fan, I hope they introduce The Reaper. The vigilante that patrolled Gotham before Batman (and the inspiration for the Phantasm).

If memory serves correct, they tried to adapt the character to film in the years leading up to Batman Begins, and that's how we got his daughter Rachel.

^^^ That might have made for a great third Dark Knight film had Heath Ledger lived. The Reaper comes back to Gotham and out of retirement to avenge his daughter's death by the hands of the Joker.

I think this show is still shit so won't be tuning in, but out of curiosity, has Bruce had his fall in the cave/meeting with the bat yet? Always figured that broke him before his parent's death somewhat, or maybe it's just cos Batman Begins did that particular bit so well...

The simple solution is honestly time jumps. Keep the kid for flashbacks but cast an actor heading into his 20's and finally another who is going into his 30's.
