GOTHAM Set Photos Show Shane West's Bane In Action As He Takes Names And Crushes Skulls

We've had an official look at Shane West suited up as Gotham's Bane but a new round of set photos shows the villain taking out Jim Gordon and a number of police officers. Hit the jump to take a look...

Our first look at Bane in Gotham has been met mostly with, well, ridicule but does the villain look any better in action? Not really. It's hard to figure out what the show is going for with that odd looking contraption on his chest but the mask was clearly inspired by The Dark Knight Rises rather than the character's appearance in the comic books.

From day one, Gotham has taken its inspiration from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, so this is no great surprise and the show - which is now heading into its fifth and final season - has probably done the best it can on a television budget.

As you can see in the set photos below, Bane is attacking a group of police officers and seemingly crushing their skulls as he grabs onto their heads and takes them out. Jim Gordon (who once served in the military with the villain) is also knocked out but he presumably isn't killed during this adaptation of the "No Man's Land" storyline as we'll need to see his moustache in the finale!

What are your thoughts on Gotham's version of Bane? Let us know your thoughts down below.

To be fair that Bane design is 100% on point for this show.

I’m guessing it was too hard to make the Bane mask.

@superbigguy32 - a friend of mine worked on that show. What a horrible mess that was.

@GreedoSarducci - I heard when they shot it in Orlando the conditions were horrible.

@superbigguy32 - yeah, it was pretty much a clusterf.u.c.k. from the get-go. Myself and another mutual friend got the opportunity to hang out on-set a couple times. It was painfully low budget and the cast and crew didn't seem like their hearts were in it.

I need to see if any episodes are on YouTube - it's been so long I need a refresher on how awful it really was.

I want a scene with him and Gordon. Bane says what’s the difference between us and Gordon says I am not wearing shoulder pads.

if they ever do Bane in DCEU should Knightfall had already happened and it's referenced.

Who thought this was the best they could come up with and signed off on this?

The only explanation I can come up with for this level of overdesign is that at the last minute accounting found a couple thousand dollars unaccounted for and they decided to give it to the costume designer to make disappear.

I mean, a wrestling singlet is like $100, and a luchador mask is like $40. Triple that for some gloves, boots, a backpack and some plastic tubing and you've got Bane.

@Reeds2Much - Yeah, but the covered arms and chest can let them expand the muscles without having to pay for animation. This is probably a budget decision.
