In some welcome DC news, HBO Max has renewed acclaimed adult-animated series Harley Quinn for a fourth season, presumably set to debut in 2023.

However, there will be a few changes when the next season heads our way as Sarah Peters (WorkaholicsMaster of None; Nathan For You) has been named the new showrunner and been upped to executive producer. She's been a writer on the series since its inception and is currently serving in a role as consulting producer. Peters will take over the job from series creators Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, who will remain on board as executive producers.

Season 4 will bring back the voice talents of Kaley Cuoco (Harley Quinn), Lake Bell (Poison Ivy), Ron Funches (King Shark), JB Smoove (Frank the Plant), Alan Tudyk (Clayface/The Joker), Matt Oberg (Kite Man), Christopher Meloni (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Daly (Two-Face), Diedrich Bader (Batman/Bruce Wayne), James Adomian (Bane), Sanaa Lathan (Selina Kyle), Briana Cuoco (Batgirl/Barbara Gordon), and Harvey Guillen (Nightwing).

Season 3 is currently streaming, with episode eight debuting today and its season finale set for September 15.

In season three of the biting and uproarious adult animated comedy series, Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) wrap up their “Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour” and return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) - "Harlivy" strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.

Cool. I’ve thought this season is a little weak so far but I’m still excited to see what they do from here.

A good news for fans of this show since it appeared that the days of animated content on HBO Max were doomed due to the more of a dozen shelving and cancelations of original HBO Max series from the last two weeks ago.

But this also poses the question of why isn't then Young Justice renewed for Season 5 as well?

@NinnesMBC - pretty sure it's a bigger hit for hbo max than YJ was
NinnesMBC - 9/1/2022, 12:24 AM
@tmp3 - Find it a bit hard to believe considering YJ was revived after more than 5 years of fan campaign by the fandom so something isn't adding up imo.

@NinnesMBC - Yeah I think they keep it around to appease those fans but look at the budget it gets lol. They have like 8 voice actors switching between roles and every episode there’s a “we need to save money on animation” sequence.
NinnesMBC - 9/1/2022, 4:00 PM
@OmegaBlack13 - I wasn't aware of the range of voice actors in any of the shows, but it isn't unprecedented for those series to re-use some.

Speaking of the money, this just highlights another of Zaslav's hypocrisy because he said they were going to cut the costs for animation and here we are, witnessing Harley Quinn of all DC IPs getting the green light for another go. Make it make sense.

Love this show but cant believe they chose to keep this but move a show from

The creator of the greatest superhero cartoon of all time
The director of their most recent hit movie
Some of the best comic writers around

To a different network or streaming servicd

Only way moving that somewhere else can make less sense is if they had Paul Dini and Kevin Conroy

Hilarious watching Joker being a dad
dracula - 9/1/2022, 12:19 AM
Cant wait for the Kiteman spin off

Obviously you have Chuck and Lisa as your Sam and Diane

Have Cluemaster as your Cliff

Have Sportmaster run a rival bar

Glad for fans of the show even though I find it overrated.

So they cancel Matt Reeves/Bruce Timm's animated Batman show and Young Justice Season 5, but they renew this shit. Good ol' Warner Bros.
bkmeijer1 - 9/1/2022, 3:53 AM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - well Caped Crusader is cancelled, just not moving forward at HBO Max. Could still be picked up by another service (which I hope it will).

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - this isn't shit homie, shave your neckbeard reee
eagc1995 - 9/1/2022, 1:11 PM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - The Batman show is not cancelled yet, its going to air on a different streaming service, if no one picks it up, then now it'll be cancelled
ComicFan523 - 9/1/2022, 1:41 AM
Awesome, I love this show. Well deserved renewal.
bkmeijer1 - 9/1/2022, 3:52 AM
And here I am, still waiting for an HBO Max original to actually be on HBO Max where I live so I can see what all the fuzz is about. Same with Young Justice S4.

Good, #sixseasonsandamovie

Hope it’s better than this season. This season has been more entertaining than funny. I remember the previous seasons being laugh out loud funny
Mugens - 9/1/2022, 6:13 AM
The writers of "The Boys" should watch Season 3 episode 4 (A Thief, a Mole, an Orgy) for how to set up and film a "Herogasm". Harley and company did it much better and a helluva lot funnier.

Great news.

I'd have preferred another season of Young Justice and I guess Wally West will never leave the Speedforce now.
