LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Concept Art Reveals Scrapped Plans For Golden Age Green Lantern, Alan Scott

The Arrowverse has brought a lot of classic comic book characters to the small screen, but concept art from Legends of Tomorrow season one reveals that we could have seen the original Green Lantern...

There have been rumblings in the past that Legends of Tomorrow was originally going to feature the Golden Age version of Green Lantern, and season one concept art shared by Andy Poon confirms that we very nearly saw Alan Scott in The CW series.

While the series has become a full-blown comedy in recent years, it started off with a tone every bit as serious as shows like Arrow and The Flash, so it definitely would have been interesting seeing Green Lantern shake things up. Thanks to time-travel, we saw the Justice Society of America in Legends of Tomorrow early on, so that would have been the perfect way to introduce the hero.

As you may recall, Suits star Patrick Adam appeared in the season one finale as a mysterious DC Comics character who ended up being revealed as Rex Tyler/Hourman. However, Poon confirms that the actor was originally cast as Green Lantern, and this concept reveals how he would have looked!

The Arowverse has shied away from using characters from Green Lantern's corner of the DC Universe, but the series finale of Arrow did tease John Diggle finally getting a ring (a plot point it's believed will be explored in the upcoming Superman & Lois series).

Josh made a concept art post that's not 10 years old? Am I hallucinating?

I would love for DC to go Zero Hour with a batshit crazy Hal Jordan. If only they understood Newton's cradle. Establish, cultivate, reap. My two cents.

@tripttwe - That's been the problem since Day 1. You can't have The Death of Superman without having the Justice League or having him fight villains not named Luthor and Zod. We didn't have Infinity War right after Iron Man 2. We needed set up, a build. DC needs to just slow down, and take their time

Alan Scott Green Lantern is too outdated...looks like something out of Watchmen. They should go ultra modern with GL...they're a universal police force ...they shouldn't/wouldn't look dorky and shabby.

@GhostofCipher - There's also police brutality all over the world, I'm not saying cops are bad but the abuse of power from certain cops still exists and is pretty prevalent in America too. Could be something they could touch on, especially since the Corp are pretty much space cops

@GhostofCipher - lol someone deleted my comment. It wasn't even controversial or anything!

@TheJustinHammer - your missing the point dude. Here it comes...…..CW DC sucks balls !!!!! Going ultra modern for the new GL TV show is absolutely the way to go. Plus....I here they're using old school Alan Scott for the Black Adam movie.

@emeraldtaurus - You’re all so [frick]ing stupid. HOW HAS NO ONE EVEN MENTIONED YET THAT ALAN SCOTT IS NOT A MEMBER OF THE [frick]ING GREEN LANTERN CORPS!?

@emeraldtaurus - Alan Scott is not a space cop, he was never a member of the green lantern corp, he draws his power from magic, not technology

The Flash largely isnt a serious show anymore btw, for those that dont watch. Currently Black Lightning is the most serious show in the Arrowverse.

@TheJustinHammer - it's mostly a comedy/dramedy. There are serious moments and episodes, but it's mostly on the lighter side of things. It's kind if always been on the lighter side, it was what differentiated it early on from the darker Arrow.

Yeah I remembered this leaking around the time of San Deigo comic con 2016. I assumed it was bullshit because it never actually happened. But here we are, looks like it was true.

I also remember a rumour from that exact same time period saying Aquaman was going to appear on the Flash. Guess that was nonsense.

Could you imagine if they’d have gotten Ryan Reynolds to come back? Even if it had been for a few scenes?

So is Alan Scott's costume a construct of the ring like Hal Jordan's? Or does he make the costume himself?
Dredd97

@soberchimera - He makes it himself. He's not a part of the Lantern core, originally. I don't know what they've done since, but his ring was just magic. And it's weakness was...well, wood
