SPOILERS: LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Showrunner Addresses Whether Rip Hunter And Vixen Will Return In Future Seasons

Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim recently revealed whether we might be seeing two characters, who departed during the season 3 finale, again at some point in the future...

With Season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow coming to a close, we saw the departure of two characters from the main cast of Legends. While Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) left the team on her own accord, we witnessed Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) heroically sacrificed himself, attempting to take down the season's big-bad along with him and buy some time for the escaping Legends.

According to Legends of Tomorrow showrunner and executive producer Marc Guggenheim, we could possibly see both Rip and Amaya in the future, with differing degrees of certainty.

Here's what he told Entertainment Weekly:

Yes, Maisie will absolutely be back. We just felt like we owed it to the character to complete this arc, complete this story loop that we got her in. Once we took her off of her path in 1942, it was always incumbent upon us to return her to that path. That was something that hung over us as writers, and hung over the character… I’m looking forward to a different storyline for Amaya next year. We’ll reveal our plans for Maisie’s character at Comic-Con this year.

So we'll definitely be seeing Amaya back on-board the Waverider when next season rolls around.

Guggenheim also revealed that, should the story call for it, we could also see Rip make a return as well.

We love Arthur, we love having Arthur on the show, and I think Arthur enjoys being on the show.

Because it’s a time travel show, and because we never saw a body, anything is possible. I think Arthur is totally willing to come back and play with us if we have a cool idea.

What do you think about the showrunner's comments? Would you like to see Amaya and/or Rip make a return in the next season of Legends of Tomorrow?

Makes sense regarding Rip. I mean, we never really saw his body. The way I interpreted that scene was he was transported to a different time period. Wonder how Amaya will factor into the 4th season.

Hope Maisie plays Mari MacCabe, she has an actress already, but we havent seen her since the second season of Vixen. If the actress is unavailable, they might as well recast her, since her only live action appearence was in Arrow Season 4. Plus Mari is different from Amaya, so having Maisie play a new character would make sense if she is very different

@gremlin22 - If the actress who plays Gideon ever leaves the show, the new AI's personality should have the voice and personality of Beebo

Try hard not to think that you just messed up the continuity of three different shows with your way of "solving Amaya's storyline". Move forward.

I'd really love to see Rip end up in medieval england, and meet Jason Blood, portrayed by Matt Smith.

Dude, just an FYI, the title of this article is pretty spoilery. I'm not completely up to date, so I didn't know Vixen left in the first place. It's not a huge deal, I kinda figured she'd leave anyway, plus I'm not the most emotionally invested in this show anyway lol. No big deal tho, you're one of the cooler dudes who posts stuff on here, I'm just giving you the heads up that the title is a bit of a giveaway.

"Because it’s a time travel show, and because we never saw a body, anything is possible."

As if us seeing a body would stop anything. We saw Sarah Lance's VERY DEAD body and she's a star of the show.

Amaya is becoming the new Hawk Girl. Let her go. I'd rather see more screen time for Zari.
