PEACEMAKER Director James Gunn On The Show's Inspired Opening Credits Dance Sequence

Peacemaker's opening credits are set to a bonkers dance number, and director James Gunn has now explained how he came up with the sequence and why he decided to include it in the show's intro...

The first three episodes of Peacemaker are now available to stream on HBO Max, and if you've checked them out, you'll have seen the hilarious opening credits dance sequence set to Wig Wam's "Do Ya Wanna Taste It."

The intro sees the main cast members, including John Cena, Jenna Holland, Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks and even Eagly, bust out some awkwardly choreographed dance moves while keeping straight faces (that can't have been easy). While chatting to Screen Rant, writer/director James Gunn explains that he came up with the sequence as "a way to show audiences that you don't know what to expect from this show."

"This is not your usual DC or Marvel TV show," he continued. "This is a show in which our characters can do the most ridiculous dance in the world with the most serious look on their faces. I hired a choreographer by the name of Charissa Barton, who was incredibly talented and she helped me to put it together and we shot it in a day in a high school auditorium."

In a separate interview with Polygon, Gunn said he wanted to include an intro that would “vanquish the skip forward button.” It worked, because we've seen the first seven episodes of Peacemaker (check out our review here), and watched the entire 90-second dance number every time!

Have you guys watched Peacemaker yet? If so, what did you think of The Suicide Squad spinoff and its opening credits sequence?

On another topic, im rewatching the avengers right now...what happened to the mind stone's effect on people.

During the first movie just being in it's presence effected the characters, including Loki, but that doesn't seem to be the case in it's later appearances and it seems to do nothing once it is in vision

@dracula - The staff was being powered by the Mind Stone, it was the staff controlling people using it's power.

@dracula - The Mind Stone was just a battery when it was in the staff is probably the best way to think about it.

@dracula - I guess its probably what Amura is saying, but I don't really pay attention to it as the whole Infinite Stones things wasn't planned back then

Still, would've been nice if they included a moment in Endgame showing it's effects on Cap though.

Funny... Just watched the 1st episode, and I already know I'll skip the opening credits. I really didn't find it amusing or whatever, and I can't see it growing on me.

Was a fun first episode, but I need a break before I watch the next. This isn't the kinda show I can binge. This is like that one wild friend you like seeing once in a while buy when they hang out constantly it's just too [frick]ing much.
