It's looking more and more like Epix's Pennyworth series will be a Gotham prequel as more details about the show have now been revealed by That Hashtag Show. Apparently, the show is going to shoot in the UK and will pick up with Alfred when he's in his mid-20s and trying to find his place in the world after leaving the SAS where he ran a number of highly classified missions for the British government.
It's said that "Alfred is trying to reconcile the kind-hearted boy he once was with the ruthless killer he was forced to become" while also trying to reconcile with his father, a proud and stubborn butler known as Mr. P, who, along with his wife, has spent his life serving a wealthy family (something he has always hoped his son would do). It's said that Thomas Wayne will play a major role in Pennyworth and Alfred will become allied with Bruce's father through his work for a private security company.
What brings Wayne to London? Apparently, he's trying to find his sister and "Wayne is said to be intelligent, deeply moral and idealistic, characteristics that Alfred will come to instill in Thomas’s orphaned son." Joining these two will be Trinidadian Marcus "Bazz" Barrington and Scotsman Wallace "Dave Boy" MacDuff, two characters I'm pretty sure have actually been created solely for the show.
So, who will be the show's villains? The Raven Society. "Led by the mysterious Lord Hardwood and his sadistic henchwoman, Bet Sykes, the Raven Society will find themselves in what sounds like a season long game of cat-and-mouse with our heroes after Sykes abducts a dancer by the name of Esme Whitaker. The heroes will battle Hardwood and the corrupt London police force in an effort to rescue Whitaker and will have to come to trust one another to do so." That doesn't sound too bad, right?
