Tony Award winner Laura Benanti (Nashville, Nurse Jackie, The Playboy Club, Law And Order: SVU) has been cast as Supergirl's Mom, Alura, in the pilot for Greg Berlanti's small-screen take on the DC Comics superhero. Deadline describe the character as "a strong noblewoman", who's "wisdom and guidance echoes across space and time, proving invaluable on Kara’s journey toward becoming Supergirl." The only other cast members so far are Glee's Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Danvers (Supergirl) and Desperate Housewives' Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, with the first villain rumored to be The Lumberjack. What do you guys think of this casting?
