Six years after first soaring onto our screens, Supergirl wrapped filming its final episode yesterday, and now the countdown for the show's series finale begins.

The series is currently on a summer hiatus, but is set to return with a brand new episode on August 24, after its sister series Superman & Lois concludes its freshman season the week prior. It will now air at 9:00 pm EST, following a brand new episode of Stargirl

To commemorate the show's last day of filming, series star Melissa Benoist (Kara Danvers/Supergirl) shared a photo of herself with original castmates Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers/Sentinel) and David Harewood (J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter), with a message saying, "Thank you for an incredible 6 years—the cast who became family, everyone who worked on the show, all of you who watched us week after week ♥️♥️♥️ that’s a wrap on Supergirl."

There are still plenty of Girl of Steel adventures to enjoy this year as thirteen episodes have yet to air on The CW, and the series finale is tentatively scheduled to air on November 9.

Check out a trailer for the show's August 24th return below and keep scrolling for touching farewell messages from Benoist and her co-stars!

"Welcome Back, Kara" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV- PG, V) (HDTV)

SUPER FRIENDS REUNITED! - As Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Zor-El (guest star Jason Behr) make their return to National City, they are determined to keep the Phantom Zone behind them and enjoy being superheroes together. Unfortunately, their overzealous efforts backfire, creating a whole new threat to National City. The episode was directed by Armen V. Kevorkian and written by Dana Horgan & Jay Faerber (#608). Original airdate 8/24/2021.

First few seasons were pretty fun, but as the show went on it just felt like it started taking itself too seriously. Hoping Kara and Manhunter at least pop up on a crossover with Black Lightning down the line.

Wonder if Michad Brookes was actually on set. We have seen photos of Guardian but nothing of him so far. Could they be dubbing him in?

A Fun POWER RANGERS Homage

Eh, show was never felt particularly morphinominal for me but Benoit did make monsters grow.

(I spent way too much time in high school learning the chords to Saban's theme song.)

@DrRichards - OT, but since it's your fault anyway: Finished Old. Going to have at least one nightmare of the Fast-Forward Osteoporosis scene, but you were right that the music made the movie better. I don't think I'm going to hunt for the score or anything, but it definitely did help the movie.

Hopefully it has a better ending than Black Lightning. That one's was so rushed.

Also if they were cancelled, and they didnt end it by choice, wow is it obvious, so many forgotten plot threads and they introduced pointless characters in that season.

Plus the JJ/JEnnifer plot, seriously so obvious they pulled that out of their ass so they could bring China back for the finale

Thought it ended a year ago. Time flies when you don’t watch something I guess.

I honestly thought this show had started like a year and a half ago. I had no idea it was on its six season wth.

Where is time going :(

What’s with the half-arsed female Nightwing looking costume?

Now I remember why I stopped watching this after Crisis.

To the cast and crew, thanks. And now, let one superhero farewell be met with another:

@FlixMentallo21 - ok, LOVE Freakazoid and just rewatched the show recently. A lot of it holds up today (especially season 1 & 2)

But he came back just recently in an episode of Teen Titans Go! Titled: "Hugbees" 🤓

Say what you will about TTG!, But they gave us more Freakazoid, so they're alright in my book!

@xfan320 - That’s probably the only episode of TTG that I’ve watched all the way.

Right around the start of the year, I actually finished writing a crossover fanfic between Freakazoid and, believe it or not, Neon Genesis Evangelion. It’s gotten pretty good reception.

@FlixMentallo21 - that's an interesting crossover for sure 😅 I'm curious how you went about writing it. Link?
