Shantel VanSanten's stint as Patty Spivot was short-lived, but the actress still managed to make an impact in The Flash. While it's no secret she left The CW series to work on another show, The Boys star has now confirmed that her departure happened quite a bit sooner than expected.
"I don’t think it was supposed to end as quickly as it did," VanSanten told TVLine in a recent interview. "I don’t know if a whole lot of people know this, but I actually worked it out with my contract so I could finish the whole season and be around. But a showrunner that’s no longer on that show was very upset with me, and so he put me on a train all of a sudden, and I left."
"It was a bummer that somebody allowed their own personal feelings to come in the way of what was best for a story," she continued, pointing to Andrew Kreisberg taking his frustrations out on the actress. "I’m glad that person’s gone, and they’ve resolved so many of the issues on the set that were because of him. I’m still friends with a lot of the cast, and that feels great."
Kreisberg was showrunner on The Flash at the time, but you may recall that he was fired by Warner Bros. in 2017 when several sexual harassment complaints were made against him.
VanSanten added that she had a great time on the DC Comics TV series, pointing out it was no secret that Barry Allen would always end up with Iris West. However, it's unfortunate that her time working on the show was cut short, especially when the actress went to such lengths to ensure she could stick around.
