THE FLASH Star Grant Gustin Says It's The Show's Goal To Adapt CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS

It's been hinted at since the pilot episode, but The Flash star Grant Gustin confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend that it's a distant goal for the show to adapt Crisis on Infinite Earths...

The Flash attempted its first adaptation of a major comic plot in season 3, kicking events off with their version of the famous Flashpoint storyline. While the end result bore little resemblance to its comic book source material, there were still some pretty major ramifications for Team Flash, and it looks like the show wants to tackle another big story from the comics before it's through.

Speaking to ComicBook at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, Grant Gustin confirmed that while it's still a long time from happening, it's been the goal to eventually adapt Crisis on Infinite Earths on the show . "We don't really talk about it on a yearly basis but it was mentioned early on and that's a goal. Obviously we'd have to go I think ten years to reach that, so there's a possibility for sure. It'll be fun to get there."  The massive multiverse event saw the collapse of mutiple parallel universes, along with the "death" of The Flash himself. The story has been hinted at since the pilot episode of the show, where the Reverse Flash views a newspaper headline from the future stating that The Flash has "vanished in a crisis".

Showrunner Todd Helbing also spoke to CB about the upcoming season 4, which he promised will be "fun" again after the "doom and gloom" of season 3. "Last year, once we showed Iris die in the future, to keep up that doom and gloom, it becomes a burden, and not just on us writing-wise, on the show and it just sort of had this pall over the season that I think we didn’t expect to be so heavy," he said. "I’m not trying to say anything bad about season 3. I love season 3, and I love Savitar, and I love the story we told, but I think that’s about as dark as I ever want to go with the show. So yeah, I think that was a conscious effort of ours to really go back to everybody enjoyed being on this team and with each other, and make The Flash have fun again. I’m really excited about the scripts so far; they’re really, really funny."

The Flash
returns with a new season on October 10, 2017.

i don't watch the series but i'm gonna ask anyway "is CW Flashopint as bad as i heard ?"

i'm asking because i like that DC animated movie.

@jerryblake - Because its not flash point. Barry goes back, saves his mother and everything is fun on a bun.

Wally is the flash. Iris is alive. And the only reason he goes back is because he is losing his memory.

Its cheap as [frick], it could have had a war between green arrow or something, but no.

Also is spanned one episode, it should have 3 at least.

@jerryblake - If you're looking for it to be comic-accurate? Yeah it's going to disappoint you.

They use Flashpoint more for the ramifications on the original timeline than what happens in the alternate universe.

@jerryblake - Lol the movie was fairly close to the comic. There's no way it could have adapted everything but it nailed all the major plot points well.
