Savitar was seemingly defeated in The Flash season 2's midseason finale but a glimpse of the future revealed that Iris would die by Savitar's hand. Armed with that knowledge Barry and his allies will be frantically searching for ways to prepare for an inevitable second round with the God of Speed. “Now that Barry has gotten a glimpse of the future he will be trying to do whatever it takes to save her,” according to Flash co-showrunner Aaron Helbing. He added, “Everybody will play a huge part in that, because Iris is part of the team.”
Does that also include Tom Felton's Julian Albert aka Dr. Alchemy? “He feels culpable, and wants to make amends," says Helbing. But it seems that Barry's jaunt to the future will be driving him bonkers as he can't figure out how Savitar could break free of the Speed Force. Said Helbing, “That will be an itch that Barry can’t scratch. How is this possible?'”
As for the rest of Team Flash, the co-showrunner adds that Gypsy (played by the recently cast Jessica Camacho of Sleepy Hollow) will be playing an important adversarial role in Cisco's budding superhero career, Caitlin will continue to wrestle with her Killer Frost alter ego and Wally West will continue to fly off the handle and cause trouble as Kid Flash.
The Flash season 3 returns on Tuesday, January 24 at 8/7c on The CW with an episode titled, "Borrowing Problems from the Future."
