The Flash finally returned from its month-long hiatus with a Danielle Panabaker-directed installment that saw Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) make a drastic decision about Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and based on the latest promo, it doesn't look like it's going to go down particularly well with Iris (Candice Patton).

Meanwhile, next week's episode looks to also shift the focus back to Caitlin's (Danielle Panabaker) family as her father (Kyle Secor) resurfaces and forces Caitlin to seek out her mother's (Susan Walters) help in stopping him once and for all.

"Snow Pack" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)

ICICLE RETURNS - When Icicle (guest star Kyle Secor) returns to enact the next phase of his devious plan, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and her mother, Dr. Carla Tannhauser (guest star Susan Walters), must resolve their long-combative relationship to defeat the icy monster. After Barry (Grant Gustin) makes a big decision about their family without consulting her, Iris (Candice Patton) decides to take matters into her own hands. Jeff Cassidy directed the episode written by Jonathan Butler & Gabriel Garza (#519). Original airdate 4/23/2019.

Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Could we go more than two episodes without Barry being a moron?

Decent episode tonight, one of the better episodes this season. Two best parts were Godspeed and that Crisis tease. Godspeed, while the same issues that i had with his look in the stills were still present in live action (looks too CGI), he was pretty neat and i'd like to see more. Liked how they tied him into Velocity-9. Thankfully, it seems that he could come back in the future, especially considering that they cast BD Wong to voice him. And then there is that Crisis tease... damn, shit's going to be epic.

The rest of the episode was alright, it provided some MUCH needed backstory. But after watching the episode, I think that the Flash should have mirrored Arrow this season and done a bunch of Flashforward sequences to really flesh out Nora and her alliance with Thawne. Too much backstory and development to be covered in a single episode. I know that the Flash writers think one episode is all they needed, but much, much more time was needed for these future stories. Then again, the writers also thought a single episode was adequate for Flashpoint, so i'm not really surprised.

There were a few things that really bothered me, and it largely had to do with Iris. I thought this was the worst episode of the entire season for Iris, it once again made her someone who thinks she speaks for everyone, who's voice is more important than say Barry's. For example:
- Iris needs to sit the [frick] down, making Sherloque feel like shit because he did and saw what no one else could. He was 100% correct. What Iris is incapable or realizing is that Sherloque raised red flags before, but she didn't want to listen.
- And what the [frick], Iris just decides for everyone else that she should let Nora go?? Once again, Iris needs to sit the [frick] down and leave the adulting to other people.

Yeah, Barry also acted impulsively at the end by dropping Nora off in the future, something they should have done from the beginning, but he had every right to do so, even if it was a bit harsh and probably should have consulted the rest of the team on. Nora burnt her goodwill, and her lies were most personal with Barry. Everything he said was correct, especially about how she kept returning to Thawne even after she knew he had killed his mom (also, what kind of museum of the Flash has diddly squat info about his arch nemesis villain?).

Of course next week's episode looks like it will really embrace the Iris "we are the Flash and I speak for everyone" soap opera drama.

So far this week:

1. Arrow (good)
2. Flash (decent)
3. Legends (okay)

@MCUKnight11 - he was actually pretty cool, i think he will return again in the future. But I didn't like his look, it was too CGI.

@HeavyMetal4Life - That is what I thought. Just like how Devoe was teased in season 3. I hope they keep going with non-speedster main villains for at least one more season. Godspeed should be a main villain but a couple seasons later.

@MCUKnight11 - ehh, to be honest they haven't done that good of a job with non speedster villains. I have a feeling Godspeed won't sit on the bench for a few years, i imagine he will be utilized again sooner than later.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I don't know if there are more speedster villains they can choose from. Only ones I can think of are Daniel West, Black Flash, and Inertia. Then again there is also the new god speedster and Red Death whom was teased.

This episode was a nice comeback and the emotions were palpable. Danielle Panabaker was a good director and she should direct again hopefully down the road again.

I knew it was coming but damn it, poor Lia. She was fun and a good friend, the writing actually made you care for her quickly so when Nora's sorrow was relatable. Sigh, she was a good mixture of Caitlin and Cisco. (Then again if they beat Grace and Thawne gets a little bit of "justice" for himself the timeline could be fixed and she could show up later)

Iris letting her out after finding out that tragedy was IC.

A lot of callbacks to S1's pivotal moments from Nora running late to the crime scene and catching stuff when they fell off from Lia's hand, the running into the laundry van ("Gambi and Son(s)? huh), Thawne's "phasing" speech, etc.

I'm pretty sure the voiceover at the Flash Museum is from the same person Nora mentioned earlier in the Season and the same one that erased some stuff.

Prison life has been tough on Thawne. A lot left to still cover of how he ended up there and why the torture. But they should come soon.

Godspeed felt his purpose and I liked that he is just in prison and not death. I just didn't exactly get how he was actually making V-9 function without the side effects Trajectory and E2 Zoom suffered, I'll rewatch later but it seemed he was also using some tachyon formula to make it null as he worked to perfect it. I liked how Nora realized he was using V9 though.

He did have a "Hadouken!" moment when he first attacked Nora though. :p

The reveal scene between Nora and Iris was perfect. Overall all the performances in this episode were good.

I'm starting to think that keeping Nora's powers in secret could stretch not just to Flash, but Arrow: isn't Felicity working on some kind of all-knowing program that could locate literally anyone? Why just keep it at Star City? They have friends outside of it, vigilantes and metas. And it is the year 2049, who knows in what state at that point Star City is compared to what we keep seeing every day on the show.

Plus that footage of Barry's message...intriguing. They better bring back Wally and Jay for CoIEs and Accelerated Man too.

"Lightning types."

Barry's pain in the end with Nora and Thawne, don't think he's ever been this hurt. Future Flash evil time remnant coughSavitarcough could likely relate to that.

Next week looks good with Iris using the time sphere to get to Nora and Grace back along with Icicle.

Another thing I forgot: the ring Nora took and where Barry's message was from which is the current suit (from "Choi Industries") is the "Flash suit version 16" and the one on top said "Flash suit version 19". Hopefully the suit is revealed later.

Finally watched the episode. They made Godspeed villain of the week. [frick] you CW.

Nora and Lea(?)'s dialogues in this episode were super cringe. I don't know why they have chosen to characterize Nora as childish. What kind of child gets a job as a police CSI?

The ONLY good part of this episode was Thawne and Barry's interaction. Cavanaugh brought his A-game tonight, and so did Gustin. I feel they've been shitting on Gustin's character this entire season. This was the one time he felt like at least somewhat a leader.

Can Danielle Panabaker just direct every episode from now on? Tonight's episode was easily the best of this season (even if that's not saying much).
