TITANS Promos Reveal Why Robin Left Batman And Show Beast Boy's Powers In Action

A couple of new promos for Titans have been released by DC Universe and these shed some light on why Dick Grayson quit as Batman's sidekick and also show Beast Boy's transforming abilities in action...

Titans looks set to deliver a much darker take on the team than what most fans are used to seeing in the comic books and that was evident from the moment Robin declared, "F*** Batman!" in the first teaser trailer. Why does Dick Grayson feel that way about his former mentor? Well, the promo below reveals that while he used to admire the Dark Knight, he walked away for a very good reason.

Apparently, he felt that he was becoming too much like Batman, something which could explain why he's so violent in this series. Whether that will change as time goes on remains to be seen but it's clear that we're getting an R-Rated take on the Teen Titans here, so bloody violence is to be expected.

A second promo for Titans, meanwhile, shows Beast Boy using his powers as he transforms into a tiger. The special effects here look pretty solid and given the quality of the costumes (which do look a little better than what we see on The CW), Warner Bros. has clearly spent some money on the series for its new DC Universe streaming service. Are you guys excited to check the show out when it hits?

...This series weirds me out...

Feels like one of those Youtube-y fan series I hate in terms of tone and approach, but with a real production budget. I've gotten over the shock of that from my earlier expectations, but I'm still not really comfortable with what I'm seeing.

Like, if this show walked onto a bus, I would put my coat over the empty seat next to me and hope they sit somewhere else.

@Spock0Clock - I thought for a minute you meant it got run over by a bus for some reason. But yeah i would run it over with a bus.

@Spock0Clock - The bus comment was probably the best analogy for this show.

Boy, this looks like crap.
Like a super hero show from the seventies. Like that early attempt at Captain America with Reb Brown or early Wonder Woman with Wonder Girl.
Embarrassing.

"becoming too much like Batman, something which could explain why he's so violent in this series"

See thats a problem like 15 different ways. You saying Batman in this universe is basically BvS Batman but worse?

@Kevwebsz - The strange thing is, Robin is brutally killing those thugs while saying "frick Batman". So is he blaming Batman for making him kill those people? That doesn't make much sense.

These promos look great! I was just watching them on the app. The Raven one is particularly creepy.

Had to walk away because he was becoming too much like him?

Ok. Understandable.

That reasoning makes you say things like [frick] Batman?

Nah. Stupid. There better be a much better explanation than that or this show really is way off track worse than I ever imagined.

@ArthurFleck - could just be because he's a teen. You know how rebellious we are between 15 and 19

I am becoming too much like Batman by being violent.

Now watch as I continue to break people's noses and snap their necks in a bloody delight.

@aflynn - How much would you like to bet it's a dream sequence showcasing the horror of what he's scared he could become?

@BeyondtheFuture - If it is some kind of dream sequence.... seems like a really odd decision to put that in your trailer as one of your first looks at Robin... like a borderline bad decision, tbh.
ArthurFleck

@BeyondtheFuture - that was a theory floating around, but judging by the cops reaction to Robin being in town and them hoping his stay is temporary, I'm betting it's not a dream and Dick left a bloody mess of thug corpses mangled and broken in a Detroit alleyway.
