Desperate times call for despearate measures and when Cersei's hopes for a trial by combat were dashed, she suddenly found herself as the most desperate of them all, which led to her making a devastating decision. That decision of course was her giving the go-ahead to unleash a cache of wildfire on the Great Sept of Baelor, which while not entirely a surprise, was certainly the most jaw-dropping sequence of the entire season six finale as we saw nearly every major player from King's Landing, including Margaery Tyrell, go up in flames.

Rising Sun Pictures has released a cool new VFX breakdown that takes you behind-the-scenes of that entire sequence and how it all came to be. Check it out below:

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.

It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'

An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.

Bloody hell that music was incredible. Rewatched the episode twice already just for the music. Beat 'Two Swords' and 'The Children' as my favourite pieces from the show. Wish more filmmakers understood the importance of good music and how it can elevate a scene or the whole thing. All four of my favourite films have incredible scores, that can't be a coinincidence. Hoping Spiderman blows my socks off with something grand and epic. The Man of Steel score has been the only superhero one that's really added emotion and made you wanna scream '[frick] yeah' during a fight scene for me. Spiderman was good but didn't have that oomph. Avengers grew on me over time too. But we need music that matches the scale of the fight scenes.
