GAME OF THRONES: HBO Releases Recut Season 8 Spoiler Trailer, Reigniting Fan Backlash

Hell hath no fury like a fan scorned, and HBO has now incurred the wrath of the Game of Thrones faithful by releasing a recut trailer for the eighth and final season of the fantasy drama series...

HBO has announced "The Iron Anniversary," a month-long event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of smash-hit fantasy drama series, Game of Thrones.

As part of the celebration, the network has released a recut, spoiler-filled trailer for the divisive eighth and final season, but many fans are still feeling a little... irritable about the way the series concluded, and seem to have no problem letting HBO know it!

Season 8 of Game of Thrones certainly had its moments, but to say the majority of fans were let down by how the story finished up would be quite the understatement. People just weren't ready to accept Dany (Emilia Clarke) turning heel (to borrow a wrestling term), and making Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) king didn't go down very well, either.

More than that, though, these creative choices simply didn't feel earned in many viewers' eyes, and it's generally felt that the more cerebral, character-based drama of the earlier seasons was all-but abandoned as the series approached its end.

Check out the trailer below along with a couple of other GOT Iron Anniversary vids, and let us know if you're planning on a re-watch to mark the show's 10th birthday.

@Moriakum - well it was shit, but what can you do without the source material when some fat idiot don't tell anything or doesn't write his books and just waiting to die before they are ready. I guess few shitty seasons.

@RegularPoochie - Breaking Bad, TNG, Bojack Horseman or the like didn't have source material. Good writers should be able to look what direction their story and characters were naturally taking, and bring them to a conclusion that at the very least makes sense.

@RegularPoochie - GRRM gave them a basic picture of how the story goes after the source material runs out, and they threw the source material in the fire two seasons before they even ran out of books to base it on, so don't blame it on Martin.

@Shroombeast - You so realise that the latest thing happens in the books is Jons death and that was the last time the series was good?

@FinnishDude - Breaking bad isn't based on a book, neither is tng and bojack horseman, there is a difference when you have source material first, but then the author don't give you nothing.

@Shroombeast - also Martin only gave 3 things to them. Dumb and Dumber can't write shit so Martin should have gave them more information. And before you yapping, Martin himself said he only gave the trew things.

@RegularPoochie - That's my point. A lot of great shows had to do without a book or something to fall back on, so I won't feel any sympathy for D&D for failing so spectaculary, just because they run out of the books.

Seasons 7 and 8 sucked but the first 4 seasons of GOT are damn near flawless.

@obredaan -

I've seen so many people just say how bad S8 is when S7 is just as bad. Utter trash with those last 2 seasons compared to what came before.

Timeout.

So the GOT Guys rushed the final season so they could get to STAR WARS...and now they aren’t even doing STAR WARS anymore?

Oyyy

@IronGenesis - They "parted ways" with Disney shortly after season 8 finished.

@IronGenesis - Yeah, they parted ways with Star Wars pretty soon after the fan backslash from GOT season eight for "schedule conflict". Like seriously, what on earth would a franchise director priorities higher than the Star Wars?

@IronGenesis - Don't feel too bad for then tho, they still got $200M from Netflix to make shit.
