Episode #50: “Mother’s Mercy”

Debut: SUNDAY, JUNE 14 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)

Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei (Lena Headey) seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged.

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.

It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'

An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.

Game of Thrones returns June 14

I wish that the order of last night's episode was different. Dany should've flown off toward the middle and it should ended with Stannis burning his daughter. I feel it would've been a little more dramatic.

I don't think they wanted to end the show murdering a child, that might turn viewers who haven't read the books off to tuning in next week. The ending was the best option.

You're probably right. This episode was reminiscent of the Blackwater episode, just when things appear to be going VERY south an unexpected "ally" comes out of nowhere to "save the day". Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a great episode.

Without spoiling anything, I'm very curious to see Jon Snow's television story line progress.

Last night was simply incredible. And almost impossible to watch at the same time. Shireen's death was probably the closest I've ever come to tears watching fiction.

eh, killing that girl wasnt really that shocking just proves that Stanis is on my list of morons in this show, the list is getting longer. and its about time Jorah is back to kickin ass for the queen. that group and jon snow are IMO the only interesting parts of this show.

Drogon looks way better in those color-graded photos. On the show, some shots looked like complete shit. The budget isn't quite there yet, which is crazy to me, because the show's made like a billion dollars for HBO. Why would they go all out for a pretty inconsequential few shots of a statue crumbling in the first episode, and then drop the ball on making an iconic moment (Dany's first flight) look perfect?

@TheAmbassador Holy shit, you come to the other GoT post and copy and paste the exact same thing? I hope all the bad things happen in the world to you and to you alone.

Whatever happened to the original mercenary that played the role of Dany's hired lover. The guy that replaced him doesn't have the same machismo or threatening aura and in Thor's words "You're so Tiny". I'm straight and I would have done the original guy. Or at least I think I'm straight cuz I would do Dany in a minute. Wait how did this go off the rails...anyway last night episode gave me the bichizzals! Shireen being burnt alive made me want to behead the Red Bi-atch! and Stannis and I also blame the Onion Knight you can't use I was just following orders, he knew what was going to happen and sometimes you have to be a man and save the cheerleader, save the world. Dany and the Dragons are my fav girl group now. Hope they go on tour in a venue near DC.
Hate to say this but Arya is one butt-ugly young lady and I thought she was cute when she was in the rags to bitc_hes outfit. Now she is just fugly but I want her to get her revenge. The last episode should be otherworldly.

That ending was such a Pokemon moment. lol Don't worry Dany. Even though Drogon has been off training in the Characific Valley he will always know when to swoop in and save the day. Now, lets see if he upgraded from Flamethrower to Fire Blast.

Since dany touched jorahs hand does that mean she's also got the grayscale?

@majorpeace He's the bad guy in Deadpool, so you've got that to look forward to. His name's Ed Skrein. He was way better than the bean pole that replaced him, but I liked the guy playing the part now in Treme (a dope show, all should watch). He's just really REALLY miscast as Daario.

Tiny petty dragons no bigger than the dragons from Middle Earth. Pathetic.

I have a feeling Jon Snow isn't going to survive the season finale.

@smell

I was wondering that myself. Maybe she's somehow immune, being that she's resistant to dragon fire.

@nordberg

Don't think so, Maegelle Targaryen died from greyscale. She took care of a sick girl, as a septa, and contracted it and died.
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 6/9/2015, 10:47 PM
@henchmen If she catches greyscale and survives, her skin becomes that pale scaly texture she will really look like a mother of dragons.

Anyway, which hand did she touch? Was it the infected one?
nordberg
nordberg - 6/10/2015, 3:40 AM
@ScionStorm

It seems he only touched her with the right, uninfected hand but is he even contagious at this stage of the disease? Hard to know until Daenarys or someone else starts exhibiting symptoms.
