AGENTS OF S.H.E.I.L.D. Analysis and Theories

How I feel about the show so far, characters, possible characters, theories and some more. Even if you've hated the show so far, I think you can find this interesting.

First off I will admit, episode 1-7 or so, I watched simply because I’m a fanboy. It wasn’t great television, only a few characters were being introduced. Just kind of felt like they weren’t ever going to really get going. But now the last three or four episodes I have actually enjoyed the episodes. I mean the characters are getting better, acting is getting better, action is way better, and heroes now??? So I’m here to say the show is actually watchable television for everyone now. Now was it to late? Probably, they have had many people label the show horrible and in a way I can understand it as yeah the first few episodes were painful. Hopefully people will begin to give the show a second chance because it is far better now. I also don’t think we can say it isn’t dark anymore. May had actually a pretty painful looking torture session, and Skye got shot, then hugged and Shot again! That is pretty dark for a “family tv show”. Not to mention mike getting blown up in front of his son, and then losing a leg. Which leads me to my next area.

Heroes!

DEATHLOK!!! Nothing more then that, made it official on the show with the zoom in of the leg as well. Which is great, I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought they would make deathlok, but not actually give him the name. But no everything was perfect, even cybertech was in the origins. Now I’m hoping deathlok isn’t fully transformed now with just one leg. I’m hoping we see his face get changed as well as an arm or something. The eye piece hopefully gets an “Upgrade” to make it look even closer to the comics. But either way very well done so far.

Next is Skye. Who could she be? Spider-woman or Jessica Drew is the fans choice so far and I agree. Especially with her in the tube which reminds me a ton of Drew’s origins in the comics. My guess is it will “bring out” her superpowers kind of how the mutants have been getting their powers. Thirdly comes Coulson. I have a feeling we will see him become a superhero. None other than U.S. Agent! Here’s why:

Coulson is going to be digging into his revival in the upcoming episode to save Skye. Maybe he finds out he’s revived with the same stuff that brings the winter soldier back in the upcoming Captain America film. Also this could lead into the Shield being corrupt storyline that is rumored in the upcoming film.

Coulson’s favorite hero is Captain America. So if he “Did” become a superhero, he almost for sure would make his outfit a copy off of Captain America, Maybe even wear his WWII outfit.

Now those are far from facts, just ideas, also that could be why he is so much more Agent then Phil. Plus how’s that for a punch line since we know marvel loves them. “Oh Coulson what are you going to name yourself” “well Stark sure likes ‘agent’”. Again though, this nothing but a rumor, but it sure does have as much depth to it as any of the Vision rumors. Now all we need is to see Mockingbird and Wendell Vaughn who becomes Quasar.

As for the clairvoyant… I say MODOK for a few reasons.

First centipede is using AIM technology, AIM is now an official “Bad company” because they were thrown in with HYDRA in the Donnie Gill episode as evil. MODOK also would know just about everything about the Agents because he could easily have hacked SHIELD and be listening in on everything they have. His ability to kill someone through a telephone sounds more like a computer ability then a psychic ability. Also what film is going to use him as a villain? It’s a big risk to have something that “Lame” looking as the main villain of a film, I think Captain America will stick to Zemo, Red Skull, and crossbones. Arnim Zola is as odd as they will get. . Lastly the clairvoyant clearly isn’t human due to the way they have talked about him. They sure make him seem different, not being able to tell Raina what he’s like. Ect.

What do I feel they could improve on? Keep it intense, deathlok I wish was named one like one of the original deathloks. More killing people, night-night gun seems like a copout at times. Granted I don’t know if SHIELD is allowed to go killing people being an agency and all. So perhaps it is a good thing. Still not liking to many nods to the larger universe. Unless it has something to do with the episode. For instance, the Blonsky reference was good because had to do with the actual idea. Coulson would have ward sent to the crappiest SHIELD job possible. Now the “I can’t deal with Asgard today” was forced. Little less humor, however it has been a tad better placed now. Also I must say I HATED Fitz, Skye, and Simmons for however long. Skye hopefully is changing now, which I think is happening. Fitz I am starting to enjoy. He actually seems like a man now (His American accent was pretty funny by the way). Actually willing to do some field work, now just give him some hand to hand training. Simmons I still don’t enjoy. I don’t think she needs any field work, but just don’t be so annoying she is strait comic relief at this point.

Thanks for reading, hope you like the theories, and hope you give the show a second chance if you haven’t been watching. Which heroes do you want to see show up?

I am def happy with the show. Even the pace of it. As the team has matured and grown together the missions have gotten more dangerous and the stakes higher. The tone of the whole show changed once Colson learned that there was no magic in tahiti. I think its 100% intentional that once that realization hit him, the show became real (well moving towards real/serious). The humor is less because they are really in life and death situations now. And thats only going to increase. I also think alot of it had to do with being sure whar direction the Sheild part of the larger MCU was going in.

Good analysis and interesting theories. The pace of the show is starting to improve with each episodes. It seems that the stakes have become higher and i'm glad the show is starting to take itself seriously. I'm also happy with the current cameos and easter eggs and references involved with in the show.

Keep up the good work.

I am clearly an ARROW fan but to say honestly...i have given this show time to improve and it surely has. Directorial angles are too improving as we saw how the different times were adjusted and viewpoints were shown in the train. I don't mind if its DC or MARVEL! All i say is that tv shows need time to pick their pace up and we should give it. As for the characters, Skye has become way serious and i love it. Ward though needs serious back stories or else he will be rendered just a group leader with a crush on May, stiff however, and fights well. Fitz and Simmons must be used to their expertise and giving their special skill set a very good place in the team. A team cant be all brute...they need brains too! And i want their thinking to land out of just technical pathways and actually contributing in the plans. May is awesome. And last, coulson...he must be used as a mastermind. At least for once or twice they must shoe that Coulson is not in the traps of villains but he is doing something to get them in his trap! If this show becomes as good as i thought from the trailer, i will b delighted to have two superb shows in tv. And please bring back Maria Hill. She is a tv actress...then why is there a problem about her getting in here?!? After all no team is totally independent!

Nice theories.

Here's a good article with some easter eggs why Skye is Jessica Drew:
