[Spoiler] Marvel Villain That Grant Ward Becomes Revealed

Early Saturday morning Elizabeth Henstridge sat down to answer a few questions at the 2016 Wizard World Convention. Toward the end, she let slip the name of the character that is now inhabiting Brett Dalton's Agent Grant Ward as well as one of his powers. Beware MASSIVE A.O.S spoilers for the second half of season 3.

This weekend, I had the great pleasure of attending Wizard World Portland. While the guest list included such popular Comic Book TV actors such as William Shatner, John Barrowman, and Kristen Rytten ...the most interesting news came from Agent's of Shield's Elizabeth Henstridge, who plays Agent Gemma Simmons. When asked what actor she loves that plays characters she hates, she had this to say:
"Watching him [Dalton] play Hive is interesting. He has the memories of the people he has killed.

Well ...there you have it. After years of speculating if Ward would turn out to be a villain, and if so which one, we have verbal confirmation from one of the actor's mouth. A wikipedia search of the character Hive lines up with Henstridge's descrpiption. What follows is the abilities descritpion from wikipedia.

"As one, the Hive is capable of asserting itself as an individual, albeit without name or personality. In this form it is capable of speech -- the language; however, is unknown, though spoken also by other Hydra agents -- suggesting it is one of their own design, created for strategic secrecy when in the field."

Ok I don't understand either quote

@hufflepuff69 - Let me fix that. "Hive" was auto-corrected as Have. The second is fro wikipedia and is merely the character's power set.

Okay, this is my first time posting in news and am still getting the hang of it as I am typically an editorial guy. It was one of those things where I just happened to be in the audience when she let slip information about Ward's transformation. Thought it was a very important thing to report here.

I hope they don't rely solely on practical effects when they show Hive's true form like they did with Mr Hyde in the last season. Use some CGI!

@marvelstudios - Agreed 100%. I [frick]ing hate practical effects in this age. Look at Flash, does anyone think practical effects could have created the amazing King Shark, Gorilla Grodd, and Tar Pit that we got in that show? Blind love for practical effects is the reason we got skinny/midget Apocalypse for his big screen debut. Look at how well Colossus was done and take note.

I want to see a proper Hive in all his glory at least once.

@GhostSurfer - Personally I don't think King Shark, Grodd and Tar Pit were done well. Those sort of characters shouldn't be on the small screen. It just can't be done right. But agree with you in regards t Apocalypse, which really should've been mo-cap.

The CGI used on the Absorbing Man was great because it wasn't too complex of a design. Something similar should be done with Hive.

@GhostSurfer - King shark looked amazing, but the probelem is theyre very expensive which is why theyre only in 1-2 epsiodes a season. I think they want ward a little more regular. That said i dont have a solution lol because i agree the character should be portrayed properly.

Had a feeling it was gonna be Hive.

Haven't people already predicted that?

On the other hand, even though I would love some CGI, I just can't see AoS crew using CGI at all, providing their history. Though Lash was well done with practical effects, can't see them succeeding in doing Hive

@dragonator29 - Yeah, I think Hive is something that has come up here at least once ...but this was a member of the cast confirming the character name AND abilities. I have not heard anything official about this until today.

That makes perfect sense that Ward is now HIVE! The story for Season 3 so far has been brutally outstanding. Ward becoming a Supervillian head of HYDRA is awesome. The Secret Warriors are forming! YES I am GROOT. I mean I'm soo excited for season 3B

Congratulations, Agents of Shield, you have managed to get real dumb again.

God dammit this season has been a pretty fantastic disappointment. It seemed like it was gonna be good with Gemma getting magically teleported to another world, but no. It was the most boring place in the Universe. Then Grant [frick]ing Ward, who ain't no fool, got talked into going on a suicide mission and now he's a 4th tier villain.

@Earth2SpecialKa - Wut? A disappointment? Speak fir yourself.

"Grant [frick]ing Ward, who ain't no fool, got talked into going on a suicide mission "
That was explained pretty well, had you watched carefully. And you really think Ward wasn't a 4th grade villain.
