When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns this March, it will be bringing a numer of new cast members with it! The latest is Emmy-winning actress Drea de Matte, and The Sopranos star will be playing Karla Faye Gideon, a Gifted woman with a grudge to bear against S.H.I.E.L.D. who joins forces with Skye’s father, Cal. The comic book version of the character played a very minor role in Daredevil: Redemption, but had no powers. "We’re thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast," said Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. "We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role." It should be very interesting to see what sort of a part the actress ends up playing in the series.

I did give up, I believe on the sixth episode, but that is all I'll give a show. I probably did build it up to much. I am also really bothered by the lack of actual comic book characters and how to include lots of made for tv characters.

Ok, so Karla Faye Gideon will have superpowers now.

It it possible we could be getting a Matt Murdock reference on the show?

Just looked up the character. Very specific to Daredevil. Daredevil crossover??? If anything, it'll probably just be a reference.

@KurtCrawler Yeah don't listen to anyone else, I totally don't blame you for giving up so early. Hell, I gave up at the exact same spot you did, and I didn't bother catching up until well after the midseason finale of season 2.

IF you're interested in catching up though, but you don't feel like sitting through ALL the early episodes (again, I don't blame you haha), io9 came out with a pretty handy article for which episodes you should watch and which ones you can skip. Just in case you ever want to revisit the series sometime down the line.

God I know I'm the only one but I honestly can't stand this woman. I can understand her talents and how people enjoy her work but I am not a fan.... At least she'll be a villain so I can hate her. Yes I'm that kinda asshole.

Nahhh he wouldn't be in the minority lets not act like Agents of Shield gets good ratings by any means. The story and the show is definitely improving and the 2nd season is a great improvement, but it still isn't something most people are just jumping to watch. Alot of people are indifferent if they catch it they catch it if they dont they dont.

I'm hoping street level heroes like Daredevil actually start to make appearances on the show.

"Nahhh he wouldn't be in the minority lets not act like Agents of Shield gets good ratings by any means"?

AOS, has good ratings bud, and ratings on DVR are through the roof… What you mean? Do you have ratings information no one else knows about or was that sarcasm?

@KurtCrawler

It's all good if you don't like it. But about the lack of comic characters... Read this:

Fans: We want comic characters on Agents of SHIELD!
Marvel: You mean like Deathlok?
Fans: No, other characters!
Marvel: You mean like Sif and Lorelei?
Fans: No, different ones than those!
Marvel: How about villains like Graviton, Blackout, Scorch and Blizzard? Even Talbot as an antagonist!
Fans: NO, I'm demanding DIFFERENT comic characters than those!
Marvel: Okay, well...it's about SHIELD, so here are Nick Fury, Victoria Hand, Sitwell, Garrett, Maria Hill, Koenig, Lance Hunter, Mack, Cameron Klein and Agent 33!
Fans: NO, I don't want SHIELD characters on a SHIELD show. I want DIFFERENT characters!
Marvel: We introduced the Kree...and even the Inhumans, who are getting their own movie!
Fans: Not good enough!
Marvel: Gotcha...well...here's Mockingbird...an actual Avenger who is quite popular. We'll even throw in cameos from Peggy Carter and the Howling Commandos...as well as Senator Ward.
Fans: NO...I want different comic characters than any of those.
Marvel: How about Kraken, Absorbing Man, and Mister Hyde as villains?
Fans: No, I want different characters than those.
Marvel: SURPRISE! Skye has been revealed to be Quake, an Avenger!
Fans: Marvel refuses to give me any comic book characters in Agents of SHIELD so I refuse to watch!

That won't make you change your mind...but it's fitting, don't ya think?
