Shortly before Echo premiered on Disney+ yesterday evening, Marvel Television's Netflix TV shows were added to the MCU timeline on the streamer and officially made "canon."
For many fans, this is cause for celebration; others, meanwhile, are a little more sceptical and believe this was a calculated move on Marvel Studios' part to win over fans who have grown frustrated with the Multiverse Saga and its recent offerings.
Either way, with Avengers: Secret Wars expected to reboot the MCU, Kevin Feige and company probably aren't feeling the pressure to bring back any actors or characters they'd rather overhaul down the line (which is likely bad news for Finn Jones' Iron Fist).
There's been a great deal of speculation online about whether Daredevil: Born Again will feature any of The Defenders. However, according to a rumour shared by scooper Daniel Richtman, there are no plans for Luke Cage, Iron Fist, or Jessica Jones to appear in the Disney+ series.
This is a surprise as we'd previously heard Jessica will be part of the story and it's no secret Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as The Punisher. With that in mind, it's best to take these claims with a pinch of salt for now.
Richtman also claimed Wilson Fisk will be New York City's Mayor when Daredevil: Born Again begins, meaning we'll miss out on his quest to run for office.
The show is in the midst of major changes and, while Richtman does have some solid sources, we find it hard to believe he's privy to everything that's happening. After all, Marvel Studios is going back to the drawing board as it looks to overhaul the show because the previous version wasn't working.
"We're having a really good time right now," Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio recently said of working on Daredevil: Born Again. "We're getting back up. We're gonna start soon, hopefully sooner than later, and Charlie [Cox] and I feel like the right vibe is there."
"I think all the powers out there that control this whole creative world of the MCU, also believe that we’re in the right place right now. I have to say, it's luck, really. I mean, my favorite series so far have been Moon Knight and Loki, and we've got those guys as directors, and so that's pretty lucky. And we've got Dario [Scardapane], who's an incredible writer who wrote The Punisher. We're in a very happy place right now."
Daredevil: Born Again is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
