THE PUNISHER Star Jon Bernthal Confirms DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Return

Earlier today, the news broke that Jon Bernthal is set to reprise the role of Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, for Daredevil: Born Again, and the actor has now seemingly confirmed his return...

Yeah, I'm thinking he's back.

Okay, wrong ultra-violent vengeance machine, but this is no less exciting than Mr. Wick's imminent return, we're sure you'll agree.

There's been talk of Jon Bernthal potentially reprising the role of The Punisher from the now defunct Netflix shows for quite a while, but the rumors really began to pick up steam following the MCU debuts of Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and The Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), and the news finally broke that Frank Castle will indeed be making his presence felt in the MCU earlier today.

Now, Bernthal has responded to the announcement by sharing the following image to his Instagram account. There's no caption, but the shot of Castle with guns blazing should tell you all you need to know.

Castle will play a role in the upcoming Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again series, but we don't have any details on how he'll be reintroduced.

Bernthal has previously made it clear that he had no interest in playing a "watered down" version of the Punisher, which may indicate that this show will have a bit more edge to it than the streamer's usual MCU output.

Born Again is planned as an 18-episode tale, with Matt Corman and Chris Ord on board as writers and executive producers. No premiere date has been announced, but the show is expected to bow in the spring of 2024.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio will return as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk after making their MCU debuts with respective appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye

hopefully he is handled more like how he was in daredevil season 2, and not how he was in his own show.

his show never reached the highs of his daredevil arc

@dracula - 100%. I want him going after the mafia or something. Enough of the rogue soldiers conspiracy thing. That's the one complaint I have about Netflix Punisher. He let Turk get away like he wasn't a criminal. Punisher would never do that unless he had a use for him, and even then it would be "temporary".

@Fogs - I loved season one but I'll agree that the conspiracy stuff being the cause of his family's death felt like it went a bit too far. But yeah some classic "Frank Vs the mob" action would be the perfect way to reintroduce him.

@Repian - why they gave him Moe from the three stooges haircut and not just slick all his hair back is one of those Disney/MCU type decisions

18 weeks is a LOT. With all these rumors of them wanting spread projects out more / avoid overlap, i wonder if there will be a few weeks where they drop 2 strongly connected episodes at once and bill as a big ‘2 parter’

bkmeijer1 - 3/8/2023, 3:53 AM
@DanFlashesShirt - I'm think releasing two episodes a week is better two. Even if every single episode is very episodic.

With the amount of shows, Disney+ movie releases and all the assembled episodes, MS can easily start dropping a new thing every week all the way up to Secret Wars. So wonder if they can spread it out at all

Every now, and then, I hear a great news. This is every now and then. Let me tell you a very aggravating story, the other day, and my son was watching every now, and then, I hear a great news. This is every now and then. Let me tell you a very aggravating story, the other day. My son was watching something on Netflix, and I saw John Bernthal, and was like what’s this? And he said, The Walking Dead. I said, oh yeah, ol Shane. To which my son responded, that means he dies. You just spoiled it. And I just looked at him and looked at the TV and left. It was in fact, the very episode in which Shane dies. I did that. I killed Shane.

My son was too young to watch it back when I watched it, he’s watching it now, and I’m not going to ruin it for him by saying if he came a dumpster fire, instead, I told him, let me know when you reach season 11. Yes, I watched 10 seasons. I don’t know what’s wrong with me
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 3/8/2023, 3:54 AM

TheWalkingCuban

@bkmeijer1 - boy I have tried to watch season 11 a few different times I just can’t. Now I will say this. Unlike others, I was a fan of the Negan war. He was just riveting. The whisper war, was a slog. I’ll finish the show because my son is watching it and one thing at all do is act all negative with my kids. But I am not looking forward to it. Ha ha
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 3/8/2023, 7:51 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - just start looking forward to Dead City then. As a fan of Negan, that's what I'm doing

@bkmeijer1 - exactly, like he’s the main reason that I couldn’t even fathom finishing the show aside from my son that is
Amaru
Amaru - 3/8/2023, 10:07 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - I hated a lot of the end seasons when I was watching it live, but I feel like it holds up much better over a re-watch.
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 3/8/2023, 10:18 AM
@Amaru - no doubt at all, without the negative vibes from the conversation at large. I mean think about it. A lot of people quit watching when Glenn got killed. What do you think those people are? I can tell you who they are, nobody wants to hear who it was, but I can tell you exactly who it was. It was women. Seem that have been messed them up for real. And I know that quit at that point, so I’m not just guessing here, this is one of those situations where the anecdote is the rule. Guess what else? The men with those women had to start watching , criminal minds and women’s prison shows, not the good ones from the 80s, the documentary ones. Because those men wanted to please those women. I know that one from experience. Back to that particular death, it was comic book, accurate, and it was done very well and scary and gory. Take out all the negativity surrounding it and it was one for the record books.

Fantastic news.

But does the MCU have the guts to bring the great DD, Punisher, & Kingpin to the big screen?

Spidey NWH was so great.

Imagine MCU Spidey 4 or 5 AND 6 with Daredevil, Kingpin, & Punisher in them.

I lost my poo just thinking about it.
