Vincent D'Onofrio Talks Playing 'Kingpin' In DAREDEVIL

The Full Metal Jacket actor doesn't give too much away about the Netflix show or his Kingpin character in an interview with Screen Crush, but he does say that we'll come away with a "new way to look at Wilson Fisk". He also teases a possible movie crossover..

Vincent D'Onofrio's imposing frame has meant that he's been cast as a variety of villainous characters over the years, and next Fall we'll see him as the ultimate comic book tough guy; Daredevil's Wilson Fisk/the Kingpin. We've already got a glimpse of how the actor will look in the role ( there's another above) in his ALS "Ice Bucket Challenge" video, but what about how he'll approach playing the lager-than-life crime boss? here are some excerpts from his interview with Screen Crush.

On his experience filming the show so far:
"I gotta tell you, I couldn’t be working for nicer people. I really am. I’m just having a great time. The whole — the way that we’re shooting it, our Daredevil, everybody that’s in the show, is just going so well. Tonight we have a big fight scene that’s happening. It’s the first time you see my character do something physical."

On a potential crossover with the MCU:
"Well, I think they have some kind of plan. I’m not really allowed to discuss what the plan is, but they have a plan. I think the beginning of the plan is series stuff with Netflix, and then they have a bigger plan to branch out, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you specifically what that is."

On what we can expect from his take on this character:
"I think – it’s not just me, by the way, it’s the writer. It’s Stephen DeKnight, it’s Jeph Loeb at Marvel, it’s the scripts, and it’s me. I think it’s gonna be the … I hope — I should say – I hope it’s gonna be the new way to look at Wilson Fisk. I think that there will be no other Wilson Fisk but this one after we’re all done with it. That’s what we’re hoping for."

D'Onofrio also talks about the unanimously positive reaction to his casting, Marvel's plans for The Defenders, and much more - so be sure to click on the link below to check out the interview in full.

It could also mean that they could bring some of the characters into the big screen MCU, I think I heard Feige say that the netflix series is connected to the MCU too

One of the biggest mistakes in TV history was USA's treatment of Criminal Intent. NBC's childlike cable network fiddled and tweaked that show so much – in order to try and make it fit into their lite-n-breezy template – that they drove fans away. D'Onofrio's Robert Goren was THE most interesting Holmesian detective since Columbo.
I'm VERY happy he's back and cast as Fisk.

No, not specifically. I can’t talk about anything. I can just say that they’re gonna go all the way. They’re gonna go super cool — like, super, super cool.

They would be pretty cool, I wonder how closely they will follow The Infinity Gauntlet, or what pieces of the story they will take from.... Feige also hinted at Nebula coming back, would be crazy to see her role in the comics played out

Did he give you any advice? (RDJ)

…Actually, we have discussed Marvel, but just in the kind of “great that we’re both doing characters that are in the same world.”
