THE DEFENDERS: Mike Colter And Finn Jones Tease A Rocky First Interaction For Luke Cage And Iron Fist

Luke Cage and Iron Fist are the closest of friends in the comics, however, the Heroes For Hire start their relationship in The Defenders on a sour note according to stars Mike Colter and Finn Jones.

One of the trailers for The Defenders featured Luke Cage getting punched in the face by the Iron Fist. That shot seems to be the rocky first interaction of Iron Fist and Luck Cage, something the actors recently teased.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con about the new series, Luke Cage actor, Mike Colter, and Iron Fist actor, Finn Jones, revealed that the two characters will test each other at the beginning of the show. “I think that’s a little bit surprising, because everyone knows us as being bffs and actually the first time we see each other there’s conflict, and it grounds and roots the characters into reality a little bit better, which I think is really interesting,” said Jones.

“I think it’s just one of those things where Luke has the advantage of years of experience. He’s a little older than Danny, he’s sort of been around, done that. He’s been in prison! He’s got some miles, he’s got some experiences… I’m from the streets, and that’s where we operate,” added Colter.

The Defenders will premiere on August 18, 2018 on Netflix.

@ODanil -
argue, repect each other, punch a bit, write a letter, unite for some big threat, one of them dies and other one realise he lost his best friend. best because they were arguing and punching themselves so much.

i'ts a circle of life ;)

@jerryblake - superheroes are so screwed up, the only friends they can have is themselves... And yet, it's still so adorable.

@ODanil - LMAO that is on point, I still very excited for the Defenders and I wouldn't have it any other way.

@ODanil - Yeah, because first impressions between DC superheroes aren't antagonistic at all.

'The bat is dead. Bury it'
'Tell me, do you BLEEEEED'

@MonsieurCringe - Actually... now that you mention it, their first interactions were very passive aggressive in Dawn of Justice. Dude just wrecks Bats' ride and flies off like it's nothing. No fight. Not talk. Just the Kryptonian equivalent to slashing his tires.

And then the totally passive aggressive "who invited you" later on...

"Is she with you?"
"I thought she was with you."

Justice League? More like Mean Girls 2.

I'm hoping they all have good chemistry

All I need is for them to just get to the BFF stage by the end of Defenders, and then for Danny to show up for some of Luke's second season and Luke to show up for some of Danny's.

And when I say "I need", I mean I NEED. These two characters are great, and the adaptations of them have been mostly on point and interesting. But they both need something to humanize them and make them more accessible. That missing piece for both of them could easily be this friendship.

@Spock0Clock - they should just a do a heroes for hire series instead of giving each of them second seasons.

@thunderpun573 - This is what I've been saying. Hopefully instead of giving JJ, LC and IF third seasons, they amalgamate them all into Heroes For Hire. This would leave more room on the Netflix slate for Moon Knight, Blade and Ghost Rider.

@IronDean2099 - Oh yeah, it looks fine. I just think that Cloak & Dagger would fit right into the Netflix setting.
