The Falcon and The Winter Soldier hits Disney+ on Friday, and while much of the plot has been kept under wraps, we know that it's likely to follow Sam Wilson's transformation into Captain America.
Of course, in the comic books, it was Bucky who first wielded the shield long before The Falcon ever picked it up. That's not a direction Marvel Studios is heading in, and during a recent interview with Empire, Sebastian Stan opened up about not being the one to take over that iconic mantle.
"Anthony found out from Chris Evans at a party that I was not invited to," the actor laughs, before revealing that he learned of the decision on the set of Avengers: Endgame. "I found out the day that we were shooting, when someone handed me the scene on the spot in my costume."
Luckily, he wasn't too bothered because Bucky taking over as the new Captain America was not something he ever expected.
"It never really made sense to me – he just was not in a place for that, mentally. I’m not sure where the character would have gone even if that had happened."
