THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Star Emily VanCamp Wants To Wear Sharon Carter's White Comic Book Costume

Emily VanCamp recently made her return as Sharon Carter in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and the actress has now opened up about wanting to wear the character's trademark white comic book costume...

It doesn't seem unfair to say that Marvel Studios somewhat dropped the ball on Sharon Carter after her appearances in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. While she had a small, but pivotal role to play in both of those movies, the character was forgotten about until The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and never really lived up to her comic book potential.

The future does now look a little brighter for Sharon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and during a recent interview, actress Emily VanCamp expressed a desire to don the hero's classic costume.

"That is a question for the powers that be. That I can’t tell you," she said with a laugh when asked if we'll ever get to see here wear that suit in the MCU. "I mean, she’s not in the white suit in Madripoor. So maybe down the line, I don’t know. For sure [I want to wear it]. I think people were hoping for [it]."

There's a lot of speculation online about Sharon's true motivations in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, with many convinced she's either the Power Broker or is, at least, working for him.

In related news, Sebastian Stan recently shared this fun behind-the-scenes video revealing how he and Anthony Mackie shot that skydiving sequence in the Disney+ show's second episode:

Doubt we'll get to see her suit up in this show, but I think she could be part of the Thunderbolts with the path she's currently on.

Also, the video was pretty funny. Can imagine Mackie and Stan mess around a lot

The script for TFA rarely gets enough credit. Likely as much as (or even more than?) Iron Man, it shaped so much of what was to come. Haley Atwell’s stunningly resonant performance obviously the other big factor for Sharon getting curbed. Really happy they brought Sharon back out of the shadows. So loved her stand for Cap in Winter Soldier.

@parkerray - TFA and the TWS are two of my favourite MCU offerings. They like the first IM and Thor films had a different feel to them, hard to explain exactly what it is about them though.

@Spike101 - Agreed! So many things. They really nailed exactly what made every Marvel comics fan (and even Frank Castle ha) love/respect Cap. And such a vast range of secondary characters that you immediately care for/are deeply invested in. Not sure if that gets at the different feel you mentioned though.

@parkerray - I can’t really explain it other than these films just felt like the characters just stepped of the pages of the comics I’d read as a child in the 60’s and 70’s (showing my age now!) There was no injected humour either and all the Easter eggs in them were nods to very deep Marvel folklore. As an aside I only realised the other day that Bucky is something like the 2nd oldest character we’ve seen so far in the MCU, only behind Cap. 3rd if we include the original Human Torch seen at the Stark Expo in TFA.

@Spike101 - Aren't Thor, Loki, Odin and all the other gods older?

And maybe Thanos is older too?

@SethBullock - I meant in terms of their first appearance in a Marvel comic. Otherwise yes in terms of age you’d be entirely correct.

I'm pretty certain that every fanboy everywhere (myself included) wants her to wear that suit.

@TheDoctor1225 How have you been enjoying the show? I was not expecting Zemo's role to be this way but I love his dynamic and how interlocked everyone's story has been. I only wished Sharon had a more active role but other than that I'm liking everyone's arc more and more. I like how Sam and Walker appproach the flag smasher situation differently, highlighting their difference in character. They're both being pressured by the legacy of Cap, and while Walker lets it corrode him, Sam is holding onto his own personal values. And Zemo is great as the anthesis of the Cap Legacy. And that final Walker shot was just so good

John Romita, Jr. is just so good and he's such a tank to keep cranking out amazing art year after year.
