Hulu's upcoming Marvel series Ghost Rider moves further into development as it nabs Preacher and Constantine production designer Dave Blass, as confirmed by the Spirit of Vengeance himself, Gabriel Luna.

Netflix may have decided to part ways with Marvel Television, but Hulu on the other hand appears set to fill this void by expanding their partnership with the company. This includes their recently announced Ghost Rider series, which will see Terminator: Dark Fate star Gabriel Luna reprise his fan favorite portrayal of Robbie Reyes from the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

While there was a lot of confusion and misinformation initially when this show was first announced, we do know that the Hulu series will be a non-traditional spin-off from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that features "the same character with a new story that lives unto its own."

It is currently expected that Ghost Rider will debut on Hulu sometime in late 2020, with recent signs indicating that the series is moving further into development. Last week, DiscussingFilm announced that the show had added production designer Dave Blass, known for his work on series such as Justified, Preacher, Constantine and the upcoming The Boys.

This news was emphatically confirmed yesterday by the Rider himself, Gabriel Luna:

Blass teased his involvement in the series last week by posting the cover of a What If... issue in which Marvel went metal with Ghost Rider, writing "I vote yes! More metal." Perhaps Blass is indicating what we can expect for the Hulu series: hard rock and heavy metal tunes!

Luna did respond to the news of Blass joining the series by saying "let's rock," and he did share back in 2016 a Spotify playlist for what Robbie Reyes listens to in the Hellcharger, which largely contained rock and metal classics, so Luna is certainly game for spicing up the Rider's adventures with some hard and heavy music.

Marvel/Hulu's GHOST RIDER: Ghost Rider, also known as Robbie Reyes, is a quintessential antihero, consumed by hellfire and supernaturally bound to a demon. Reyes lives on the Texas/Mexico border and when he unleashes the Rider, Robbie brings vengeance for the innocents he encounters, but struggles to control the power he wields.

Ingrid Escajeda will serve as showrunner and executive producer on “Ghost Rider,” with Paul Zbyszewski and Marvel's Jeph Loeb also executive producing.

Heavy metal and Ghost Rider together!?!?!

Really looking forward to this series, Luna was fantastic in the role. Perhaps after the first season we will get some crossover with SHIELD, who knows. Hoping the Rider appears before the end of SHIELD Season 6, with all this talk about demons and places of hate and fear.

With Blass on board, perhaps we will get some great horror (Preacher) and supernatural (Constantine) elements, along with top notch thrilling action (Justified) and an embrace of the Rider's violent roots (The Boys).

Anyways, I expect them to just take the VFX SHIELD developed for the Rider and carry that over to Hulu, because it looked terrific and they shouldn't change anything about it.

I still remember folks here saying that AOS would waste Ghost Rider so bad. LOl, do you guys remember this? It was classic.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I give Loeb a lot of shit and the guy has been said to be a major jerk and abusive towards his emplyes but i have to hand it to him. When one of his shows is good, it's really good. AOS is probably the most consistent cb show of all time. Flash, Arrow, Smallville all went downhill at one point or another. AOS has been solid to great for 5 straight seasons.

I'd love to hear at some point the journey behind this show becoming a reality.

After his fan favorite and critically acclaimed appearance on Season 4 of SHIELD, we know that there were talks of a Robbie Ghost Rider series spinning out of AoS. We know this because of a number of rumors and from Gabriel Luna himself, who indicated that a solo series was being discussed. And at the time, the rumors and signs were indicating that these plans would involve the character jumping over to Netflix.

However, then the Marvel Netflix deal started to fall apart and these rumors ceased and we heard no movement on a Ghost Rider series for probably close to a year and a half.

Fast forward to this winter/spring, we heard a rumor that a series was being pursued and then Hulu announced it. What happened in the year and a half or so, I'd be very curious learning about what transpired and how long Hulu had been pursuing this series.

The fact he was introduced in ABC and now has a show on Hulu makes me wonder if there's a possibility, two years from now, Hellcat could show up in Helstrom

Will there be a ghost writer working on “Ghost Rider?” Are there any mutual fans of both “Ghost Rider” and Aragorn from “Lord of the Rings” who will heartily shout, “Go Strider!”? If a legislator adds a provision to a bill without informing other legislators, would that be called a “ghost rider”? If this new “Ghost Rider” show trends in the direction of being less original than previous iterations of “Ghost Rider,” would one say that the new show “goes triter”?

Can't wait. I haven't watched the new season of AoS yet cause I wanna binge it all together so i don't have to wait for episodes, but I'm a die hard fan, and the news of this is super great. I loved Luna on the show. He deserves a spinoff. Hopefully they include some more marvel supernatural characters
