HAWKEYE: [Spoiler] Shares A New Look At Their Character And Thanks Fans For Their Patience

A certain someone made their long-awaited MCU debut during the season finale of Hawkeye, and the actor who plays them has now taken to Twitter to share a special Christmas message with the fans.

The character's presence was teased early on in the season, and although we saw photographic evidence of his return during last week's penultimate episode, it wasn't until today's Hawkeye finale that we got to see Vincent D'Onofrio in the flesh as Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin.

The Full Metal Jacket actor made the Man Without Fear's life hell as Fisk in three seasons of Netflix's now defunct Daredevil show, and did such a terrific job that fans were adamant nobody else should play the villain in the MCU. Rumors swirled that he was set to reprise the role in Hawkeye before the show even entered production, which led to D'Onofrio continually being quizzed about the possibility on social media.

He couldn't say much at the time, of course, but did recently confirm his involvement, and has now shared a video message wishing fans a happy Christmas and thanking them for their patience. D'Onofrio also posted a shadowy new look at his revamped interpretation of the Kingpin of Crime.

We don't know when we'll see Fisk again, but an eventual showdown with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock has to be on the cards.

What did you guys make of The Kingpin's return and this first season of Hawkeye in general? Be sure to drop us a comment in the usual place.

So what show is next? She Hulk or Moon Knight?
Next movie is DS2 in May?

@Waddles - that’s what I was figured. Just couldn’t remember if they released dates. Really can’t wait for Moon Knight though.

@Waddles - Plus since they showed us Banner at the end of Shang-Chi, and back in human form at that, it makes sense that they're priming us for She Hulk with teases of these characters we expect to/know will show up.

I have to say, I wasn't nearly as impressed by Fisk's return as I'd hoped. During the scene with Eleanor things seemed fine, but once he wore the colourful shirt and the chain he felt off. It's fine that Kate, with quite a bit of luck, managed to best him, but I feel he should've never gotten involved in the action quite like that. Especially after the pretty much perfect Matt Murdock cameo last week this was a bit of a letdown.

Overall the episode was easily my least favourite of the season. If they'd stuck the landing Hawkeye would've been my #1 Disney+ MCU show. Sadly I don't feel they did. They had too much going on, and even the things I liked a lot ultimately felt rushed. Also, if you have a slightly wonky fight coreography – maybe don't put some hits that don't connect in dramatic slow-mo?!

Everything with Yelena was good, though. Can't wait to see her and Kate meet again.

@Kyos - after his realistic take on DD this felt a bit cartoonish with him surviving an explosion and a car crash, but like i said DD put the bar too high

Solid show. Nothing amazing, but definitely kept my interest around. Kingpin was the big bang of this show, glad he's back...?

He was a lot closer to the comics in his power set. I mean, he ripped the door out of the car, took an arrow to the chest, was hit by a car, and survided arrow explosions. The guy is a beast and obviously will be back.

This episode was rushed. It was fine at best but they didn’t tie everything up as well as they could have. I thought the show was in position to be the best of the Disney+ shows until the finale. After absorbing it all:

-Swordsman red herring was boring
-I would’ve had Swordsman be at least tied to Clint’s mentor; maybe he killed the original and took his identity. He’s a plant by the Circus to keep an eye on Eleanor, who they know is a pawn of Fisk
- They should’ve showed Fisk blind in the post credits
- The Cirque Du Nuit should’ve been a factor, competing with the Kingpin & Tracksuits. In the five years during post Blip, they turned up again but kept quiet (it might’ve been a little convenient to have Clint’s last catch up with him along with another part of his past in Ronin but we should know more of who he was before SHIELD and the Avengers at this point).

The Rockefeller trick arrow extravaganza was great to see. Right out of a comic book. Kate and Yelena have great chemistry but this whole “I’m gonna kill Clint because he killed Nat” arc was boring and meaningless Imo. I know they needed and wanted an excuse to have Yelena meet Kate and the connection she and Clint share was a way to do that but how they did it fell flat for me. Seeing how it all culminated. I didn’t have an issue with Yelena being hired to kill Clint but I think she could’ve taken the job and been conflicted or used it as a way to discover how Nat died without the revenge angle. It never felt strong enough, because we know how Nat died and she was an Avenger with Clint. It’s bullshit to think he would’ve killed her and even Yelena could piece that together.

Fisk felt like Fisk for the most part and the CUFFLINKS seem like a definitive confirmation that the Netflix show is canon to some extent. I did get a kick out of him throwing Kate around and being incredibly cartoony strong like he is in the comics. I get the feeling in Echo they will explore how he became tied to the Tracksuits.

@BlackBeltJones - The way they handled Swordsman and Kate's mom were the things that really stuck out to me as sore spots. A ton of the show's early episodes were built around those 2 characters and they each had like 10 lines all episode.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 12/22/2021, 9:40 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - Exactly. Those first few episodes handled the mystery around them very well and a lot was formed around them. How it all ended felt empty.

@BlackBeltJones - there were different rumors floating around how Natasha died, and Yelena was probably believing most of those rumors. However, here's an Avenger trying so hard to keep Kate Bishop alive, which shows his true character that he's not evil, he's a good decent man.

This show is absolute T R A S H. MARVEL, please stay away from the home alone hijinks. Hawkeye is a f@#%ing Avenger. Not some "let me babysit this kid who has absolutley no business in this business" backseat bum!!! The lines are cringe, the playfights with Yelena are seriously stupid, and if I see Kate Bishop make the "throw up in her throat" face again, I will lose my shit. Spider-Man just peaked as a dramatic entry in MARVEL, and while I am happy to see the return of Wilson and interested in the continuation of Maya- this ain't it chief. Yelena is a killer, not a kidder. Stop cutting the product to stretch the appeal. It always ends badly (looking at you TMNT 3)...

@GeneralZod - let me paint a picture: Bruce Willis as John McClane from Die Hard, taking tactical and strategic advice/orders from Kevin McCalister from Home Alone.
This is Hawkeye.

I get it. MARVEL must appeal to the young audience. However, it should not be at the expense of the audience who financially backed this thing from BEFORE day one movies and tv (with comic purchases).
Gizmo had it all in Gremlins 2. Cute, cuddly, funny, and heroic, taking inspiration from a deadly one man army (Rambo). The scene was a seamless blend, displaying Gizmo's homage to Rambo, without watering down Rambo. Could you imagine a movie with Gizmo and Ram- 😳.... Alright, THAT might be kinda awesome.
...Context is everything. It would've been nice to see the guy who questioned his own purpose in the middle of Avengers combat, make more justifiable reasoning when partnering with Kate. Think Bioshock 3. Our parter was an ultimate aide. She knows EVERYTHING he likes, and over-assists, to the point where it seems she's a mind reader...
Finally, Kate taking on Kingpin should've been an encounter like the Black Widow vs HULK, or Mr. X verses- anybody. You run, you hide, set up the trap, and boom- Kevin Macallaster helps John McClane..... 🤔
Get bettter writers!

@Ha1frican - If they wanted us to know he was dead, they would have showed him dead (as they have many times with their heroes and villains).

The deliberately made sure we didn't see him die because he's not dead.
