IRON FIST Adds LORD OF THE RINGS And 300 Actor David Wenham As 'Harold Meachum'

Thanks to leaked character bios we already knew Harold Meachum would be a part of Netflix's Iron Fist, and now Marvel has officially announced that Aussie actor David Wenham will be playing him.

As Marvel and Netflix's Iron Fist series prepares to kick off production, the cast announcements are coming in more frequently.

Earlier today we had word that Arleo Dordar may have signed on in an undisclosed role (though that's still just a rumor for the time being) and now Marvel has officially announced that David Wenham (the last two Lord Of The Rings movies, 300, The Proposition) will be playing the villainous role of Harold Meachum.

A ruthless corporate leader, Harold Meachum was partners with Danny Rand’s parents at the time of their deaths. What role he plays in Danny’s past and future will be revealed over the course of the series.

“I’m very excited to have David as our Harold Meachum. David is capable of displaying raw, visceral strength as well as extremely keen intelligence,” said Executive Producer and Showrunner, Scott Buck. “This will add up to a character of complex depth who will keep us off balance all season."

"David brings both a vulnerability and a danger to his many diverse roles,”
said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “This key quality creates a gravitas our series requires as Danny unravels the secrets behind Rand Enterprises."

The other confirmed Iron Fist cast members are Finn Jones (Danny Rand) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing).

@HornySpidey - I always confuse this guy with the guy who always dies in movies. Didn't they played brothers or something in LOTR?

@HornySpidey - Yeah Sean Bean played the brother the king loved the most, Boromir and David Wenham played Faramir, the little brother who the king gave a lot of shit.

@HerculesJones - Thank you. I remember now. I want to give that trilogy a rewatch, but later. The hobbit trilogy left a bitter taste in my mouth.

@HornySpidey - yeah I watch the extended editions of the 3 Lord of the Rings movies back to back to back about 2 times a year. The Hobbit on the other hand I have seen the 1st one prob twice and never saw the last two films.

@HerculesJones - They were very obviously a cash-grab. The third Hobbit movie was one of the worst movies I had seen in awhile. It was a complete mess.

@HerculesJones - The Tolkien nerd in me would like to point out their father Denethor was actually just the Steward of Gondor. Aragorn was the true King.

@slickrickdesigns -
The effect for his fiery fist in Earth's mightiest heroes is red, even though in the comics it appears yellow, I think they should go for a more realistic fiery looking essence. But yeah, it's going to be so cool.

I always thought Harold Meachum was way older. But this casting is pretty good. I hope we get him like this:
